This is a question for everyone; Where did the psoriasis first appear on
your body and how did you know that it was psoriasis? When did it spread, or
did it even spread at all?

Hello, I am new to the group. I am on disability for psoriasis and
psoriatic arthritis. My psoriasis first appeared about 15 years ago as a
small patch behind my ear. The dermatologist actually told me it was just a
bad case of dandruff although I had already begun to suspect the truth. It
spread all over my scalp first, then affected my fingernails, knees, elbows
and off to the races. I am currently on Soriatane, just started it and hoping
for the best.

Can someone tell me the difference between eczema and psoriasis?
I had eczema as a kid, until age l7. Now, with menopause, I developed dryness
of the face, puffy eyes, redness of the skin, flakiness around the ears which
then encircled the ears, then the arms, the belly, the back and finally the
vaginal area. Every place itches; some places where I give into the scratching
I wake up with big bruises where I had scratched. The itchy areas are a bit
rough, they are red and they are kind of flaky. My back seems to look like acne
and have more bumps or pimples. I also have occasional red bumps that sometimes
don’t do anything and other times itch and spread.
Thank you.

I don’t know the difference between eczema and psoriasis. Do you think
you might be having an allergic reaction to something in your envirenment. My
husband had a rash that was from laundry soap.

Nastasya- I am sorry to hear how vulgar and nasty some people can be.

I had responded privately, off list to the inquiry. With Robert’s
candidness, I decided that I should be a little more open and would state
that his case and mine are fairly mirrored. Fortunately for me at least,
the spread to the extremity (hmmm, I would have to say that tongue in
cheek), went away after about a year.
Regarding dietary, I actually cleared mine up once upon a time. Followed a
manual I had purchased from no less an authority than a chiropractor, and no
longer can find, of course. The essentials were no pork, no red meat, no
alcohol, no starches, taking a liver detox formula daily, and massaging a
spot just below my 2nd rib on the right side of the chest, and another on
the inside pressure point just up the thigh from my right knee.
Although I felt stupid from time to time, the psoriasis completely went
away. After about six months of being literally free of the crap, for some
reason I concluded that life just didn’t have enough meaning without my
steaks, hamburgers, pork chops, and booze, so off I came and back it came.
I sorta feel certain that if I would get mad enough about it again, I could
clear it up using the same means. The dermatologist here has watched me
simply slide into a worsening condition without any real assistance. In
fact, I’ve never met a dermatologist that seemed to have a clue about
anything. He was ready, now, to prescribe ultraviolet for me. I did some
research and other psoriatic patients concluded that Tanning Beds were
better and a HECK of a lot cheaper than doing that with the dermatologist.
I started going to the tanning salon about ten days ago, and my psoriasis
has shown very good signs of improving. Hope something I’ve purveyed here
helps someone else.
