Flax Oil For Itching

Saturday, March 8th, 2003

I have eczema. The first time was when I was a young child,
too young to remember the occasion. When I was 18, the problem
came back and Army medics gave me an ointment that quickly
eliminated it. When I was 52, the problem came back and a doctor
prescribed an ointment that just made the problem worse. The
doctor told me to continue the treatment, but I could not bear
the pain and itching. As messy and ugly as it was, I used pine
tar and the problem went away.

About 10 months ago, at the age of 55, it started again as a
reddish blotch on my left cheek, spread to my right cheek, then
chin, earlobes, inside my ears, chest, elbows, inner thighs, and
scalp. The itch has been so maddening that I often woke up in
the mornings with bloody cheeks and earlobes because I had
scratched myself while I was asleep. I tried everything, even

I’m not sure if I’m using this right, but I’m responding to the question in
archive 116.

When I first developed a patch it was on the inside of my right knee. I believed
it was due to the pants I was wearing. They were polyester pants and the
stitching was irritating my skin and quickly became a rather large patch. My
doctor diagnosed me with eczema. I didn’t have much information at the time and
it quickly spread to every part of my body within 6 weeks. Due to scratching one
part of my body and then touching another. My chest and stomach are the only
areas that have not been affected.

My problem is somewhat under controlm, but it still largely controls my life.
I’ve just joined this onelist today, and already learned something that might
help. Thank you.

This is a question for everyone; Where did the psoriasis first appear on
your body and how did you know that it was psoriasis? When did it spread, or
did it even spread at all?

VITAMIN E

What does it do? Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects cell
membranes and other fat-soluble parts of the body, such as LDL cholesterol (the
“bad” cholesterol). Protection of LDL cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart
disease. Two studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine show that
both men and women who supplement with at least 100 IU of vitamin E per day for
at least two years have a 37–41% drop in the risk of heart disease. Even more
impressive is the 77% drop in nonfatal heart attacks reported in the double
blind CHAOS study, in which people were given 400–800 IU vitamin E per day. See

We know that certain conditions and the use of certain drugs can cause a
deficiency of a varying number of vitamins, minerals and co-factors. That’s why
the addition of alpha lipoic acid, zinc or the b-complex vitamins can aid in
recovery from specific conditions. We also know that many herbals have a
history of effective use. Some herbs are good sources of anti-oxidants while
others are sources of vitamins and minerals. These herbs can be used in addition
to more common food products for nutritional support. Other herbs, often
referred to as herbal medicines, contain drug-like substances, and are commonly
used short-term to address specific health challenges.

The problem is that all these are generic and can be found at varying prices and
qualities in retail stores, major discount chains, doctors’ offices, and other
nutritional network marketing companies.

To address the legitimate need for various generic nutritional or herbal

Rebecca:

While my experience doesn’t deal with cancer, but since you askeand you asked
for positive experiences I’m posting this account of my background introduction
to the area of natural treatments for disease.

Over 20 years ago, in June 1978, I started taking a large dose of the B Complex
vitamins. The dosage was 20mg. B-1,B-2 etc.;B-12 20mcg and folic acid at 400mcg.
I immediately felt more energetic and alive. I had gran mal epilepsy for the
prior 25 years, since I had
entered puberty at age 13. In those days 20 mg was probably a megadose, I’m not
sure, today I take 50mg. because its more commonly available. I had been taking
anticonvulsant medication trade name Mebroin including Phenobarbital and a
smaller amount of Dilantin.
I was able to wean my way off the anticonvulsant medication in July of 1978. I

Brian’s eczema

Saturday, March 1st, 2003

Hi Brian,
I’ve had severe eczema since I was one year old and had it for 50
years!!!!! My parents had tried EVERY cream, pill, treatment that they
could find, to no avail. Only steroids (cortisone) was able to suppress,
NOT CURE, only to suppress the eczema but it nearly killed me in the
process with its horrible side effects. Today, I am totally cured and
this is what I did:

1. eliminate all dairy products except butter, eliminate all wheat
products, and other things in my diet, and started eating plenty of
ORGANICALLY GROWN fresh, RAW fruits, nuts and vegetables.

2. Taking a good amount of flaxoil, borage oil and evening primorose oil
everyday.

Cats

Saturday, March 1st, 2003

Hello All

I think I might have just had a revelation.

Although I am allergic to rubber (mercapto mix), I’ve just realized that the
times in my life when my eczema has been worst, I have worked with or owned
cats.

Has anyone every had a severe eczema type allergic reaction to cats? Or is
it just coincidental?
