diet and eczema…the bad news

I read many posts about diet and ezcema. I suffer from seborrheic
dermatitis and like others have tried elimination diets etc, all to no
avail. I’m afraid I just don’t believe that changing diet is the
answer.( can’t speak for all eczemas). My doc told me that diet has
nothing to do with seb derm. He also informed me though that alcohol
is a major irritant,which I certainly discovered was true! I had a
ezcema free period for 2 years during which I ate just about anything
and everything I wanted, with no flare up.
However I remember one time eating mainly nuts, fruit etc and having
a massive flare up! It didn’t help at all. I note some people refer to
a healing crisis, I’m afraid I am very sceptical about using this as
an excuse for flare ups, whilst on a ‘healthy’ diet.
A post from Jim refers to a flare up while on one of these diets. I
think it could be your body responding to the sudden change in diet.
Of course a healthy diet is benefical for our all round health, but

I don’t think it’s the answer to skin problems, certainly not Seb Derm
anyway.
Would appreciate others views

I AGREE, THAT ALCOHOL IS AN IRRITANT AND HAVE ALSO BEEN VERY IRRITATED WHEN
I ATE CHOCOLATE. ITCH NTENSIFIED. HAVE BEEN TRYING TO EAT FRUITS AND
HASN’T BOTHERED ME YET BUT WHEN I CONSUME ALOT OF VINEY VEGIES, EX:
TOMATOES, CUCUMBERS, WATERMELON, CANTELOPE, I GET FLARE UPS. JUST GOT OFF
MY BIRTH CONTROL, AND HAVE SEEN AN ENORMOUS DIFFERENCE! NOT NEARLY AS
INTENSE AS BEFORE. TOO BAD I DIDN’T KNOW THIS EARLIER, IN ALL MY WEEPING
DAYS. ALSO HAVE BEEN TAKING BORAGE OIL ON A DAILY BASIS, THIS REALLY HELPS
AND IS CHEAPER THAN EVENING PRIMROSE.

    Hi Nastasya
Yes I do have a number of fillings and one root canal. I would love
your theory to be correct , but unfortunatly I’m very sceptical about
fillings ( mercury) being a cause of seborrheic dermatitis. I do eat
    a
lot of fish also, but I don’t feel it is connected. I know some folks
have shellfish allergies, of that I have no doubt. This may bring
    them
out in a rash, but I don’t believe that true eczema is caused by
eating fish or by mercury fillings.
Of course I would love more evidence of this theory and would
certainly take it on board if I saw a substantial connection.
