Eczema and eggs

Monday, May 19th, 2003

Now that eczema has been mentioned, I will tell everyone of my
experience. About 10 years back I began this habit of eating
2 chopped egg sandwiches for breakfast each morning, and then
each evening, I’d put 2 hard-boiled eggs in salad. That was
4 eggs for me per day, and I kept that up for a year.
At the same time my fondness for shrimps, has reached the extreme.
Well, what then happened was that I ended up with a horrible case
of eczema all over my face. I was horribly ichy and red, and I
had to stay out of the sun, and any heat.
I went to the clinic 2 times. They’d give me cortisone creams
but you know it relieves the problem, but the eczema never goes
away.
The second time at the clinic, I asked if I had to start avoiding
any foods. The doc said no.
After 5 months of suffering, I realized the docs weren’t going

Health Risks from Processed Foods and The Dangers of Trans Fats
Dr. Mary Enig Interviewed By Richard A. Passwater, Ph.D.

In her 1978 report, Dr. Enig challenged the speculation concerning the
relationship of dietary fat and cancer causation. She concluded that
correlations between the increase in per capita dietary fat intake and total
cancer mortality over a sixty-year period show significant positive
correlations for total fat and vegetable fat, and negative correlation for
animal fat. That is the cancer rate is higher when the amount of vegetable fat
or total fat is higher in the diet, but the cancer rate is lower when there
there is more animal fat in the diet. These findings were unpopular then as
they are today, but they are still correct. It is convenient to blame
everything on red meat and animal fat, and believe that vegetable oil is the
great dietary salvation-even if it is partially hydrogenated. At least that is
what the vegetable oil people would like everyone to believe.

tea tree/slippery elm

Sunday, May 18th, 2003

Hello;

Thanks everyone for your tea tree suggestions. The product
I bought from Whole Foods was Jasons, didn’t like it. This
hemp oil stuff is great for my scalp but dries out my
hair. Maybe I’ll try some conditioner?

One other thing - awhile back someone mentioned how the use
of slippery elm bark helped them greatly. I think they
said one teaspoon in 8oz water, let stand for 15 min, is
that correct? The directions on the package say a pinch in
8oz, let stand for 5 min. I’ve been doing this for months
and don’t see a difference. In Pagano’s book, does he
reccommend a teaspoon? Thanks for your help.

where can I get tea tree shampoo?

Saturday, May 17th, 2003

Hello;

I have not posted in a while, hope everyone is well.
Regarding shampoo- I use ‘Sun Dog’ hemp oil shampoo and my
scalp seems to be ok, but my hair is very dry and brittle.
So then I bought some tea tree stuff (I can’t remember which
brand, had a picture of a koala bear on it) but there were
chemicals in it and my scalp started flaking again. I
remember awhile back someone mentioned where they sent away
for all natural, no chemical tea tree oil shampoo and I
would appreciate that address one more time.

Other than that I’m on a fruit diet, plus juicing lots of
veggies. I’m a little thinner than I’d like to be, but
feel great. That’s the problem- I cut the crap out of my

Aspartame

Friday, May 16th, 2003

George, thanks for the thought, but I’m not using Aspartame. I try to keep
a diet free of chemicals and processing. Obviously it isn’t always
effective. I think I’m very allergic to airborne allergens like tree and
grass pollens and animal dander. This time of year is always hard on my
skin.

Cortisone shot advice

Tuesday, May 13th, 2003

I went to the allergist yesterday about my full body eczema who immediately
sent me to a dermatologist. Says I have a pretty severe flare-up. Eczema
basically from head to toe. They wanted to give me a shot of cortisone
followed up by cortisone pills with a gradual taper off. I’ve resisted
shots or pills until now because I’ve wanted to tackle this problem
naturally. I’m seriously considering the shots and pills on Monday. I
can’t live like this much longer.

Can any of you share your stories on cortisone shots and/or pills? I would
like as much information as possible. From what I read, it’s not something
you want to do all of the time, but it won’t kill you once in a long while.
I’m worried about rebound effect and other side effects.

Thanks everyone.

OT Grandma

Monday, May 12th, 2003

The other day I went up to a local Christian bookstore and saw a
"Honk If You Love Jesus" bumper sticker. I was feeling
particularly sassy that day after coming from an exhilerating choir
performance, so
I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. Boy, am I glad I did! What
an uplifting experience that followed! I was stopped at a red light at a
busy intersection, just thinking about how wonderful the
Lord is and I didn’t notice that the light had changed. It’s a good thing
someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn’t honked, I never would have
noticed the light!
I found that LOTS of people love Jesus! While I was sitting
there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out
of his window and screamed, "For the love of GOD! GO! GO! Jesus Christ,
GO!" What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus!
Everyone started honking! I just leaned out of my window and

If it contains aspartame, go off all such products for six weeks and
see if your condition becomes less of a problem. My shingles and
episcleritis are now contolled to the point where I am having no more
outbreaks. I have been using a high impact antioxidant for six years
to achieve this control.
