tomatoes!
Hi everyone!
I’d like to share a story…try to make it quick as possible.
I had very bad eczema on my hands and face…so bad on my hands they
were cracking, bleeding, had to wear gloves etc. My face would
sometimes swell up so badly I was embarrassed to go out. And the
itch would drive me nuts.
Anyways, I went on a gluten-free vegan diet to try to find out the
cause. Kept breaking out. I was eating mostly raw foods. Then I
read about macrobiotics, which is mostly cooked foods and no
nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, tobacco and a few others).
Gradually I started to improve on this regimen. Make no mistake,
this was SO hard for me. I felt very hungry (as a side benefit, I
became nicely slender). Not having tomatoes and potatoes was the
worst because I would say these two foods were very prominent in my
former diet.
I started to gradually and carefully add foods back to my diet…1 at
a time, generally speaking. I was so afraid that the eczema would
come back. I had made a loose connection when I was on the gluten-
free vegan diet between ingesting tomatoes (particularly fresh or in
salsa) and breakouts. I decided to add everything back to my diet
except tomatoes, and to my surprise, I have remained COMPLETELY, THAT
IS 100%, ECZEMA FREE now for many months. I have returned to my
previous diet except for fresh tomatoes. I am delighted that I can
have small amounts of tomatoe sauce without difficulty…I think that
cooked tomatoes, in moderation, are ok for me.
So anyways, I think I found the culprit, fresh tomatoes, and have
avoided them religiously now for months. I take no supplements. No
special creams. Indulge occasionally in coffee, sweets, but not
excessively.
That’s my story. Hope it helps someone. Cathy.

Kathy:
I absolutely love tomatoes. Was it hard for you to stop eating them?

Eggplant is just as bad btw. What you mention is called the liver diet.
