Fatty Acid Peroxidation Basics

Hi All,

Is Mystric (c14:0) the prime fatty acid?

Friday, October 31st, 2003

Hi All,

WHY does your body produce Mystric (c14:0) from glucose? Are the sat fat is bad
fat crown suggesting mother nature got
it so wrong? Mystric is the bodies starting point for the elongation and
desaturation of fatty acids into other
necessary forms. The only fatty acids it can’t make are Omega 3 LNA and Omega 6
LA but your body only need 2 - 3 g of
each. More is not necessarily better!

Maybe if you set the LDL (actually VLDL) level, HDL level and LDL receptor
numbers produced from Mystric as the
reference level (as the body probably does) you will see that as chain length
increases and or double bond numbers
increases, the body progressively lowers LDL (actually VLDL) production, reduces

Best "oil" supplement?

Thursday, October 30th, 2003

BTW…I agree with that doc about Flax seed. Even in capsule form
I’ve broken one and tasted it…wasn’t "fresh". Udo’s Choice seems to
be of high quality though, is there anything anyone else would
recommend? Thanks

Help with Acne

Thursday, October 30th, 2003

This is my first post to a message board, so please bear with me as I
learn about the process and etiquette. I’m a 29-year old female who
suffered from minor cystic acne in high school…not a lot of lesions
just one or two major ones all the time. I took Accutane, which
cleared my skin up until about 2 years ago.

At 27, I noticed that my acne had changed and that it was coming back
in a more aggressive form. I now have myriad red papules most of the
time…3 or four medium ones and chronic clogged pores. It seems as
if my skin never sloughs off…like there’s always a shiny coating
over it. Plus, I always feels dry and flaky even with my acne.

About 5 months ago, my dermatologist prescribed minocycline, Azelex in
the morning and benzaclin at night. I had beautiful skin for my
wedding. However, now, I have a mess again. I did notice when I

Slippery Elm and other questions

Wednesday, October 29th, 2003

Hello,
I have just joined this group. I am 40 and have had
psoriasis for 25 years. I have recently began Dr. Pagano’s regemin
fairly faithfully. I have not touched red meat, sodas or tomatos
for a month. I have a few questions for you folks who have taken
this journey and have come out cleared!

1. The 80% 20% ratio. Is that a must or is there a bit of
leeway in this. I find that in order to make up the 80%
a lot of healthy fruit juice is taken between meals.

2. My lesions as of this moment (1 month in ) have grown in
size ( like the illustrations) they are painful too. How
long should this phase last?

[lotion

Tuesday, October 28th, 2003

Everyone is different, but I have already made a lotion with the oils you
mentioned - all to no avail!!!

Since I have psoriasis myself, my body is my science experiment, so to
speak……have tried lots of different combinations in many different
creams and lotions, and home made soaps as well. Only found one soap that
did anything, and of course it wasn’t a cure.

Have produced one lotion that is extremely effective on my customers’
eczema, (but not on psoriasis!)…and will be getting a patent on it.

Three years ago I needed eye surgery. After three surgeries I was blind in
one eye and feared losing the sight in the other. I broke out in psoriasis
practically from head to toe. I tried every cream, oitment, etc. available
which would give me only moderate temporary relief. As soon as I stopped
using them it would return with a vengence.

Last summer I visited my sister in Atlanta and talked with an alternative
healing practioner. He said he had cured many cases of psoriasis worse than
mine and said the problem is my system is too acid. He sold me a liver
cleanse and colon cleanse and had me take organic raw apple cider vinegar
twice a day and baking soda on an empty stomach then wait one hour before
eating. I began to clear up almost immediately. I have now regressed in my
diet and program, and it has returned to my scalp and back, but it’s not
nearly as bad as it was and when I get my mind set I plan to see him again
and continue with his program. Hope this helps someone else.
