steroid creams
Thank you for your reply - you have really put me off the steriods.
My condition is not too bad and I can easily put up with it - and maybe it
is better to ignore it and hope tht it will go away rather than use the
steriods - the side-effects sound really scary -
you’ re not the only one to advise aganst it.

Listen all, My wife who is an RN has been trying to
get me to stop using steriod ointments all together.
I have been liberally using CVS’s brand of Eucerin
ointment, it is called "hydrating healing ointment" It
comes in 2 oz tubes for like $5.00 or a 14 oz jar for
about $11.00
I have been really using all during the day and at
night with non latex gloves for my psoriasis on my
knuckles, and have seen a great improvement. Like
most over the counter creams or ointments, the
"redness" does not go away but my skin has been very
smooth with this routine. Smooth skin but red is
better than cracked/flaky and red. The long term
effect of steriod ointments are just not worth it.
Let’s face it, dealing with psoriasis is a
psychological battle that we need to except our
condition when we are in public, we hide our hands or
elbow or where ever, hopfully there will be a cure,
but for now, when some stupid cashier asks "what do
you have" I tell her/him it is leperacy.
Good luck,
Jon

Hi all,
I am new to the group so please excuse me if my questions are basic, but
I have been an allergy sufferer for about 29 years now and have tried many
different treatments as my eczema is very distressing (sore, stingy and very
embarrassing especially as my two young children have started to be quite funny
about it ( yucky sore face mummy!!!!) from my three year old. I have two
questions 1. my doctor always tells me not to use the steroid creams on my face
but I have been for some time as nothing else works and it is the most
noticeable obviously, I have heard of severe side effects of doing this but
would like to know exactly what the side effects are as I cant get a straight
answer from my dr. 2. has anyone tried treating Candida symptoms to help and if
so what treatment and were there any side effects of that. Thanks so much for
any feedback, I am so glad I found this group it really helps me deal with my
self esteem issues from my skin problems.

Dearest Itchy,
I was so saddened to hear about your plight!
Here I am in the UK thousands of miles away - it is late Autumn-
almost winter and a huge beech tree has almost fallen on my house n a gale -
and the mass of golden leaves are tumbling in the wind. My dog is waiting
for her walk whilst I type this - and soon we will be striding through the
damp woods with a friend and her dogs.
My children have grown up and I have grandchildren and I have grown up too.
The moment I grew up was when I knew for sure that there is absolutely
nothing about which I need to have low self-eteem. What ever happens to me
NOTHNG will harm me. I have lived through bombing in World War 2 - a
husband dyng and leaving me with three young children, my son ony just
surviving a Ferry Disaster - and loads more but I am a happy person and a
healthy one.
I have a mantra "think nothng of it". An overdraft? Think nothing of
it. Difficult kids? think nothing of it! - a painful rash? - think nothing
of it…. You have to change your mind because it is the ONLY thing you CAN
change. You must change away from being a Victim to being a Wonderful Woman
because everything depends on it - everything in the rest of your life.
Here you are in your early thirties (?) cute kids - never quite enough time
for yourself - bored with your husband - hating the dishes -Project and
imagine what you might be like at forty - fifty- sixty-seventy - (I am
seventy) what do you see in your mind’s eye - You could be smooth skinned,
slender, energetic, sexey, just about to take (another) Degree, sought after
for invitations to parties, booking yourself a journey of self-discovery to
India or where ever you dream of….- Or you could be…old.. not only
might you still have a rash but also be greyhaired, overweight or
underweight, sagging boobs, without energy enough to play sport, boring in
bed, and without the mental or financial resources to go out and get the
life you want. Those kids who take up so much of your time will be nowhere
…but you will be left with the woman that YOU have created.
Do not blame yourself too much because some of this stuff you did not
know applied to yourself. But now there is no excuse - I am so excited for
you.
Email me and tell me how you are gettng on with the creation of the New
Smoothie!
Yours sincerely Jan Henry.

Aquaphor is the brand name, CVS sells their version
which is identical. Usually CVS places it right next
to Aquaphor… Aquaphor is also costs about 40% more.
Which ever you use the Aquaphor or the CVS Hydrating
Healing ointment, this daily routine used several
times a day has really improved my skin with regards
to flaking and cracking. With the winter it is hard
to eliminate the redness, but this is something that I
am used to living with.
Good luck.

Jan Henry,
I am so stressed today which does not help my psoriasis one bit and my body
hurts from continuously hitting the pavement looking for work since I am
unemployed. Things are getting scary so what I want to say is……IT WAS
GREAT LISTENING TO YOUR EMAIL TO ITCHY(WHICH I AM AS WELL) .I needed it as I
get started again to look for employment and all the rejections that have
been coming along with it…So what I want to say is THANK YOU>>>>>>Mindy

AJ for candida our doctors in America prescribe Diflucan an oral med. Seems
to work. Also, eating lots of raw garlic on your meals gets rid of candida.

Granjanhenry:
Thank you for the very positive and inspirational email! I think we all need
some encouragement to make us feel better. I often feel down on myself when
my skin is flaring (I know I could have something much worse…and I should
be lucky). I have ups and downs. I do tend to notice that I feel worse
about myself when it’s on my face because I can’t cover it with clothes.
Anyway, I hope all of you out there know you are not the only one and there
are others out there who understand. Hang in there and be grateful for all
the good things in our lives!
Take Care all!

Mindy,
Hang in there! Something will come along! I was unemployed for quite
awhile. I won’t tell you how long because I relocated so it took me even
longer to find something. (not to mention having to adjust to much lower
salaries…)
Just wanted to say good luck to you and be patient. The job market does look
like it’s improving now.
