Protopic is made by Fujisawa in Japan. It should be available in your
country. Do a web search on 'Protopic'. Another alternative in the
same class is Elidel.

I started using it on the non-specific dermatitis that has been
causing a progressive thinning of the skin of my penis for the opast
7-8 years. This is day 2 and I have had no sensation of burning or
itching. It seems to work well. My only concern now is finding a
hypoallergenic bar soap for washing that area in the shower. My derm
also prescribed Aquaphor as a moisturizer.

These immunomodulators are so new that it took me a year, 2 GPs, 1
urologist and 4 dermatologists before I found one that made the right
call. The others (including a top teaching derm in NYC) wanted to
biopsy me and apply steroids. Hydrocortisone gave me a skin ulcer in

not a life threatening condition!

I'd like to know if anyone is using this drug called Protopic. It falls
under the drug category known as topical immunomodulators, which also
work on the immune system, but without the side effects commonly caused
by steroids (oral or topical). There have been some interesting research
regarding this drug and its effectiveness, and I was wondering if anyone
out there would be willing to part with some knowledge if they have
some.

Also, since I'm not in the West, it's a little hard for me to source
this drug. I currently live in Malaysia, so if anyone knows about
sourcing this drug from a region nearby, do share this information.

Many thanks and blessings,
Boon.
