Advice
Hi,
I just jointed this group. I have suffered from eczema all my life
and now for the first time to be on my lips. My lips are very very
dry (none of the over the counter medicines work) and the sides of
the mouth are cut and will not heal. This has destroyed my social
life as it’s very unpleasant and I don’t feel like leaving my
apartment. Does anyone have any advice or comments? I desperately
want to know why this has suddenly appeared.
Tank you in advance.

Well if you have suffered with eczema all your life you know that it is like
a cancer that has remission periods. I sympathize with you because right now
my entire body is dry and cracked all I can say is see your dermatologist and
keep your lips moisturized constantly with vaseline or vitamin E.
Good Luck

Hi, bad thing about your lips, but dont be worried
about, we both know it could be a lot worse if you
have it all over your body….
My advice is, dont use vaseline or any petroleum
derivates, it could trigger up your eczema. Use water
based lubricants or something else, I use a cream
named Lubriderm (dry skin presentation) and it works
fine.
Had you try immunomodulators? Don’t be afraid about
the fancy term, immunomodulators is the new treatment
for eczema (specially treating face related eczema).
It is not as fast in results like steroids but in
matter of 3 or 4 days your lips will improve a lot. I
use Elidel for my face and, even it is not fast, it is
the safest alternative.
By the way, are you drinking enough water?

Hi
I have my first ever appointment with a skin specialist tomorrow. What can I
expect from it and any idea how long it lasts?

Going to the dermatologist or any doctor is best done with a litle list
which you can hold in your hand. Not only list your questions but also
mention your deepest worries. For example your fear that what is NOW only
small
sore that it might spread all over and then what? Be sure that you will f
orget something otherwise.
Ask if there are any indications that a change of diet might help? -
what about soaps and bathes?, sunbathing?, what about covering it up? what
about
infection getting into the open sores, what about depression? Swimming?
What about other medications you might be on which do not mix? What about
having a Treatment plan so that you can try other things if the first medication
fails? What about sending skin sample off to the Path Lab? Is it catching
(Like ring worm)
That is a good start - you will at least get your money’s worth if you get
half of those answered. At least the Doctor will know that you are a dozey
idiot who is easily satisfied with poor attention . Good luck - all my love

Do you supplement with a high quality
multi-vitamin/multi-mineral? Also take a high quality
flax oil — flax has the essential omega oils that
cooked food diets lack. This will help.
