Baby Oil
Ouch!!!! If you’re referring to the commonly used "Baby Oil" in a clear
bottle -
I wouldn’t begin to consider using it - for anything. It probably says
"Mineral Oil"
which is nothing more than refined diesel fuel, perfumed up to smell good.
It covers
the skin, clogging the pores, preventing it from breathing properly.
I read an article some time ago about women and make up. It talked about
all the chemicals found in make up and how they actually cause the skin to
age much more rapidly than what would be a normal ageing process. If I
remember correctly, for every 7 years of use the skin ages the equivalent of
10. This is because of the inability of the skin to breathe under all the
gunk. However, the worst part was what those chemicals do on the inside of
the body, including altering the DNA and causing degeneration in the
regeneration of new cells. If we continually pollute our bodies with
unnatural chemicals, eventually the bodies defense systems are overcome and
we
end up with symptoms manifest through various dis-eases.

Doug,
Dermatologists have done studies that show that the deep layers of the skin need
to be nourished with fatty emollients so that the epidermis is not dry and
cracked. They use baby oil in their studies.
I understand the petroleum source of baby oil (i.e., mineral oil); however, it
seems to have worked wonders for babies all over the world on their new and
sensitive skin.

has anyone tried baby oil on cradle cap, if so how did it work? The bottle
says it is for cradle cap. I was also wondering if baby oil might help my
eczema…..does anyone know if there is a real simple or all natural baby oil
out
there, maybe in a health food store? I just moved and haven’t seen a health
food store yet…
Thanks,

Sue,
There is a product that I have bought at Babies R Us, and I believe Kmart,
that comes in a green bottle. There are actually two products, one for eczema
and one for cradle cap…I believe that the brand name is "Eczema Baby". They
both work really well. My first son has eczema and had cradle cap as an infant,
and the cradle cap ointment worked really well. It does have an "oil" feel to
it, but it also has kind of a slight grainy texture to it. I hope this helps.
With my son, after he gets out of the bath, I sometimes put baby oil on

him…but you need to be careful and get the original baby oil, not any other
scents…they can be irratating. Also, something that I have found that can
help heal up some really sore spots, as strange as it sounds, is the ointment
for breastfeeding mothers called Lansinoh…it helps heal and protect dry,
cracked skin….it comes in a purple tube. My son (who is two years old now)
actually asks for it to be put on him…he calls it his purple lotion!

I know they do have natural baby products because I’ve seen them in my local
Health Food Stores. I don’t have children so I can’t recommend anything.
However always check the ingredients. I know regular baby oil isn’t natural.
Do you have a homeopathic doctor in your area? I know Burt’s Bees makes baby
products.

These products are actually made by orajel and they
are called gentle naturals. You can go to
www.gentlenaturals.com and read about them. I myself
used the cradle cap treatment and the eczema cream but
neither of them worked for us. Oh and I also used the
eczema wash and wasn’t fond of that either. The best
soap I have found is the Dr. Bronners. My son’s cradle
cap and eczema were very severe. Things are better but
we are still fighting day to day.

Jessica,
Thanks. I think I saw that eczema lotion awhile back in Toys R Us. I was
wondering if I should try it. It was before I noticed any problems with my son
(cradle cap I think).
Also, I had lansinoh when I first tried to breastfeed (he severely damaged
me!…had to give it up) but I was afraid to use it as I am allergic to alot and
I avoid lanolin. A nurse told me it is not the part of lanolin that you would
react to, but I was still hesitant to use it. Do you know if someone who is
senitive to lanolin should use it?
Hope your son is well, I hate that kids have to have this or any problems.
Thanks,
Sue

I have been reading ingredients more than ever, since I have those chemicals
to look out for to avoid. As far as health food stores or Drs I have to look

I have been using baby shampoo (detangling one) and have been ok with it so

If your state has a Walgreen’s it is the walgreens Therapeutic Moisturizing
Cream for dry skin. The cream is very greasy and thick and comes in a 16 oz
container…it is the only thing that has saved my life in my struggle with this
disease.

does anyone know the benefits of castor oil as a moisturizer?
August 30th, 2006 at 4:07 am
For me, the castor oil "felt" better (more moisturizing) than the coconut
oil or any plain oil for that matter. I’ve tried coconut oil, avocado oil,
olive oil, sweet almond oil even raw butter, heh (probably a few other oils
that I forget at the moment). The main reason I switched from castor oil
was it’s a bit too heavy, and I wasn’t really seeing much improvement,
although it did "feel" better tightness wise, but still itchy and flaky and
red.

THE MISLEADING CARTOONS ABOUT ISLAM
ok…i’m a muslim, and i find the cartoons very embarrasing, harrasing, depict
an incorrect view and provoke the anti-islam attitute furthermore.
it’s just as bad as the reaction from the muslims side though. violence is NOT
the answer…what the heck…how are you going to blow someone up, when they
just voiced their opinion…no wonder where the cartoonists get their ideas
from. it’s like if you depict me like this..then i’ll do it. but let me let you
know…THE MAJORITY OF MUSLIMS ARE NOT VIOLENT…i read on some news site
someone was holding up a sign the says "free speech go to hell", well damnit if
it wasn’t for free speech there would be no way in hell you’d be able to say
that.
we just need someone to explain with compassion and understanding why we feel it
was so degrading. i mean look at your own beliefs, would you like it if someone
was making fun of them 12+ times all over the world that’s already largely
misunderstood ur beliefs in an incorrect way?
lastly, a few notes about misleading islamic facts.
-in islam, it is forbidden to draw ANY CREATURE…not just prophet muhammed. the
reason is because ur trying to re-create God’s work, which just isn’t possible.
BUT that doesn’t mean muslims don’t…In India, the Hyderabad leading newspaper,
SIASAT, does fancy stick figure drawings all the time in their little comic box.
-i read in an article: not much is known about Muhammed (peace be upon him)
because he lived hundreds of yrs. ago. that’s completely false. During
Muhammed’s life & after his death, there are books upon books about his habits
and mannerisms because it’s any Muslim’s goal: to be just like him and his
perfection. Everything you could imagine, im sure you could find (their called
Hadith, I believe)… from his sex life to his prayer style. I was shocked to
read that.

Well, I have to agree with you on most of this. I live in Brooklyn in a
neighborhood with a significant Muslim population - we live 2 blocks from a big
mosque and hear the call to prayer several times a day. It’s very beautiful,
actually - and there are a lot of good places to eat as well…
Muslims do get a really bad rap in American and European media, it’s too true.
These cartoons are stupid and degrading, but they’re not too much more degrading
than any other political cartoon I have seen. Reactions like these riots are
extreme and, in the larger picture of millions upon millions of Muslims in the
world. quite isolated, but they do make quite an impression.
I just don’t know how we’ll reconcile this. It seems like, on both sides of
the fence, we are seeing the worst of our cultures representing the whole. I
mean, what does the average Syrian know about the average Dane? Probably not
much except now, they have this insulting cartoon to deal with. And let’s face
it, it isn’t often our best and brightest that get involved in riots. It just
isn’t.
I really don’t know how we’ll resolve the issues between the Muslim and (what
is ostensibly, tho’ not purely) the Judeo-Christian perspectives - I have my own
theories about what is essentially problematic with an Evangelical Christian
perspective - and I think it feeds into this dynamic as well. It’s very
worrying and I don’t know how to resolve it either. I only hope that, like so
many things, it appears to be much worse in the beginning and it finally gets
better.
I also wonder about the timing of all of this.
This is just one man’s opinion…
K

I use a baby oil on my daughter (who has it really bad) but you have to use
one that does not have mineral oil!! If it has mineral oil it will usually
make it worse!
September 8th, 2006 at 5:22 pm
Arbonne carries a great one. They have great washes too that don’t have all
that fillers stuff. At least I have found that it works long term on my
daughter.
September 9th, 2006 at 10:46 am
Baby oil is scented mineral oil. A petrolium product. I would not
use it. You may want to try pure grape seed oil. It is a light
easily absorbed oil that has few incidences of reaction. It is the
oil recommended for infant massage and it is edible. Very important
on a person that puts everything in their mouths. I should be
available at a health food store or the oil section of a well
stocked grocery. If you cant find it there are tons of on line
sources.

I’m totally new to this group and I feel like I am trying to endorse this
product. But after a lot of my own research i have discovered that the products
made in the US don’t meet high standards. I tried sooo many products on my
daughter that either didn’t work, made her worse or worked for a short period
and they all ended up in the garbage! The arbonne baby wash, baby oil, baby
lotion and skin conditioning oil have made my daughters life so much more
pleasurable. She had it all over her face, arms and bottom and now she stays
clear.
They’re truly all natural. There are no ingrediants in them that are
chemically made. Please check into it! We’re tight on money (we have 5
children)
and got sick of wasting our money on false products. Arbonne even offers you a
45 day money back guarentee… so if it isn’t right for you or your child you
can return it and get all your money back!!!
Just wanting to share this. Please check it out for yourself.

I heard baby oil works but it is very oily and collects bacteria that much
faster. I like renew it gets rid of cradle cap and makes my skin look and feel
great! I use it also on my baby’s bottom to keep diaper rash away.
