Glenda, after reading your e-mail regarding emulsifying ointments I sent a
response to the writers of that website you mentioned and here is their

Has anyone ever had any scalp issues? I was originally diagnosed with psoriasis
from my dermatologist and have been on topical steroids for about 10 yrs now. I
am ready to get off the steroids and find some alternate ways to treat it. I
have changed my diet (no gluten) and also have been using some tea tree shampoo.
The waxy scales have gone but now my scalp is just really flaky and itchy,
especially by the end of the day. Can anyone offer me any advice? Is there
some kind of rinse or anything I can use. Someone at some point mentioned the
Kerastase Shampoo and that only seems to make my scalp drier. Please help!

When my scalp was real bad with scabs and flakes I
washed my hair every day. Now I wash it once or twice
    a week. I don’t have scalp problems.
I am currently using Nature’s Gate - a natural shampoo
    from the health food store.
Once your head gets used to less frequent washings it
won’t get greesy looking. (That won’t take long.) Use
a nice boar hair natural brush and brush every night.

I know someone who uses honey as shampoo and lemon as
a rinse. She has beautiful, shiney, thick hair. You
have to use it for a couple weeks before it works
well. It’s hard to wash out and turns oily at first –
which is why I haven’t gotten into it myself — but I
    would like to.

If anyone tries it I’d like to hear how it works for
    you.

So are you saying that as a result of you washing your hair less that the scabs
    and flakes went away?

    Hi Mindy

Sorry the Kerastase Shampoo didn’t work for you. Did you use the Dermo-calm
    for sensitive scalps?

I am saying that I believe that it helped. (So did
cutting out bagels and coffee.) I used to wash and dry
my hair every day; I used a commercial shampoo,
conditioner, and gel. I had horrible scalp problems -
flakes and sores. Now I wash it a couple times a week,
use a natural shampoo and rinse, no gel, I usually let
it air dry, and I use a natural hair brush — I have
no flakes and no scalp problems. Changing my routine
helped but it wasn’t the only factor. As far as I’m
concerned whatever helps is cool with me.

I also don’t wear makeup anymore.

When you see people with beautiful, unprocessed
(without a lot of gook in their hair), natural looking

hair ask them what they do. From my experience people
with really healthy hair don’t wash it every day.

Try it for a month and let me know how you feel.

I have already stopped washing my hair every day. And it seems to be helping
some already. My scalp used to feel like I needed to put moisturizer on it
after I washed it. I thought that by washing it more I was helping. All the
steroid shampoos I’ve ever used you are supposed to let them set on your scalp
for 5 minutes or so…so that’s what I would do with my regular shampoo. I am
very excited about my scalp healing…I also have cut out most of breads and
pastas and rice…and no coffee per say. Although I do have a soy latte once in
a while. Thank you so much for all your advice…I’ve tried everything else!

Dear Mindy and all others with scalp problems,

my derm did send me a shampoo (new) based on the ingrediens of the cream. A
Tourist from Switzerland will act as a guineapig for me, starting today.
I’ll let you know about the results in a few days. According to my derm it
should be used contrinuosly but with breaks where you just use normal
shampoo. Details are going to follow.

    All the best
