Eczema/Folliculitus
I’m having quite a rough time with this, I was diagnosed with
folliculitis a month ago while I still had big spots of eczema on my
lower legs. The doctor prescribed antibiotics and steroids, which
only made it worse and made me physically ill. After going there
several times, I got so frustrated that I never went back and began
to research homeopathic remedies. One thing I found to help with
controlling bacteria on the skin is tea tree oil soap used in the
shower daily, however while the pustules have gone down it is still
dreadfully itchy and red, I can feel every nerve ending in my arms
where it’s affected. My neck also has itchy red blotches and my ears
and cheeks were peeling, however I used shea butter on my face and
ears daily and that cleared it up. However, the worst place is my
legs. I have red dry areas all over them, and my lower legs each have
large areas of eczema. The one spot is about 6 inches wide, this is
where everything started from and what first appeared. 4 months ago I
was perfectly fine, I had never suffered from any skin problems and
for the life of me I can’t think of anything i’ve been doing
differently to cause this. Nothing I have tried soothes the eczema
which is what bothers me most, because for one I can’t shave my legs
and everytime I look at myself all I can think of is how hideous it
looks. I am 18 years old and much too young to be suffering from all
this, I wish daily for some higher power to give me the strength to
persevere through this. I use moisturing lotion all over my arms and
legs every few hours, with a base of aloe vera, with jojoba oil,
safflower oil, and avacado oil among other things. This seems to
temporarily soothe the itching and pain. I am using vitamin E on the
large areas of eczema but oddly enough they don’t itch. It’s my arms
that itch the most, where I had the folliculitis so bad. I’ve done
much research about how your diet can affect these things, I stopped
eating dairy, eggs, meat, and wheat gluten as they can all be
irritants but this didn’t seem to make a difference. I started taking
flax everyday to get omega 3 fatty acids, I also am currently working
on cleasing my liver of toxins through milk thistle and this week i’m
going to do a juice fast to cleanse my colon. If i’m lucky it may
allieviate some of the itching, but it’s been 2 months i’ve been
suffering and none of this among numerous other things I didn’t
mention here have helped at all. I know there is no real cure or
cause for these conditions, it is honestly ruining my life. I’m even
considering moving to Florida where there is a moist tropical climate
and sunshine with salty sea water, does anyone think this could help?
Please, if anyone has any suggestions they would be welcomed, I am
desperate to try anything.

Hello Alicia,
Can you think of anything that you may have done differently 4 months ago? How
is your cycle? Are you on the pill?
I’m having quite a rough time with this, I was diagnosed with
folliculitis a month ago while I still had big spots of eczema on my
lower legs. The doctor prescribed antibiotics and steroids, which
only made it worse and made me physically ill. After going there

Hi.
Just read your message and I can sympathise. I’ve recently tried
changing diet in hope that it would improve my eczema. Avoiding
diary did nothing at all. I’m on homeopathic medicine at the
moment, and can’t honestly say that it’s working yet. I’ve had
eczema for a long time now, and the longest period I was blessed
with perfect skin was on a month’s holiday in Cyprus. It could have
been the sea water (which I was in almost every day), the sun or
maybe just feeling completely relaxed and not stressed (not that I
usually get stressed anyway). I think you should test your Florida
idea.
Hope it all gets better for you. Peter

I tried to think of what I have been doing differently. I didn’t come
up with much. I was on the pill though until about a month ago, I
stopped taking them because I thought it might have soemthing to do
with all this, but no such luck so far. However, I know it takes
quite a while for all those hormones to clear my system.
Sincerely,
Denise
