Plagued with Folliculitis

Friday, July 15th, 2005

Hi all, I’m a newbie to this group. I’ve been plagued with
folliculitis of the scalp for 3 years now, on and off. I was
prescribed a number of antibiotics which provided temporary relief,
but lately I’m suffering from a recurrance that is not going away.
I’d really like some guidance. I want to get off the drugs and begin
an active change in my diet and lifestyle.

Are there any specific foods I should avoid with this condition.
Also, I’m a Muslim woman and I do wear a headscarf (but not tightly),
so I’m wondering if my scalp is sensitive to certain chemicals in the
material? I’m very confused and frustrated, if anyone on this list
can help I’d really appreciate it.

God Bless,
Sarah

Is it the water we are drinking?

I would like to hear from those sufferers about what you usng that
works. Does medication cause it or the chemicals in the water or
where we work or what?

Ichthammol

I would be interested to know whether anybody using this site has used
ichthammol for their eczema or psoriasis and if so what the results or their
experiences were.

Many thanks.

Eczema/Folliculitus

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

I’m having quite a rough time with this, I was diagnosed with
folliculitis a month ago while I still had big spots of eczema on my
lower legs. The doctor prescribed antibiotics and steroids, which
only made it worse and made me physically ill. After going there
several times, I got so frustrated that I never went back and began
to research homeopathic remedies. One thing I found to help with
controlling bacteria on the skin is tea tree oil soap used in the
shower daily, however while the pustules have gone down it is still
dreadfully itchy and red, I can feel every nerve ending in my arms
where it’s affected. My neck also has itchy red blotches and my ears
and cheeks were peeling, however I used shea butter on my face and
ears daily and that cleared it up. However, the worst place is my
legs. I have red dry areas all over them, and my lower legs each have
large areas of eczema. The one spot is about 6 inches wide, this is
where everything started from and what first appeared. 4 months ago I

You may have to send your email address. the group doesn’t seem to permit
photos, scans or attachments.

I try to send the chart I sent Claire

Would you also forward me that list which tells what areas relate to what?
Thanks.

Thanks for replying. Then it sounds pretty much like other

information to be aware of.

Lanolin - has anyone used lanolin for skin problems?

Friday, July 8th, 2005

My only advice to you would be to take care with the source of the lanolin. It
is generally an animal product derived from sheeps wool. Processing sheeps wool
is a procedure steeped in chemicals. Try to get a source that 1. doesn’t harm
the sheep, 2. Is shorn from sheep that are raised naturally (organically)
without the use of pesticide sprays and 3. Make sure the wool/lanolin is not
processed with any chemicals. That way you can be certain that chemical residues
will not interfere with the purity of your product.

Have you used a moisturizer with lanolin in it and did it help?

Let put a disclaimer up front that my wife is in the business of
making all natural moisturizers. We are considering having a
clinical trial of our all-natural moisturizers but that comes at a
very steep price. Before paying $50,000 (more than the business made

4 Year old With Ezcema

Thursday, July 7th, 2005

I am new to the group. My daughter is 4 and has been plegued by
ezcema all her life. We like many of you have been Back and forth
from doctor to doctor. She went through a terrible time in her young
life about a year and a half ago. But we finally found a doctor who
diagnosed her with a full scale Staff infection on top of her
ezcema. Since then we have been on a regular rotating regiment of
Elidel and Clobatisol/Bactroban oinment. She is alot better, but
till it itches, and she has good and bad days. We noticed this
summer however that when ever she was in the pool her skin was alot
better, like perfect. Or doctor suggested it was the sun. I was
wondering if any one has had the same effect with a tanning lamp? Or
do we just need to move the family to Arizona for the real thing 24/7.
