New Members Story and some Advice
Hi, I would like to share my sons story about his eczema. He is 7
years of age and has suffered his itchy condition the majority of
his life until now. We have finally found his cure and are amazed
by the results - we wanted to share it with you. A mother at my
son’s school handed us a book about food additives and natural food
additives and we commenced the elimination diet and within a week
the horrible dermatitis all over his back and tummy disappeared,
then his large weeping patches of eczema disappeared from his face,
legs and arms and he slept for a full night - first time in two
years - what bliss !! We were very skeptical about this diet but it
has worked for us and many others since discussing it with other
parents. Foods which I thought were very healthy for him such as
all fruits (except pear) and fruit juice, tomatoes, citrus,
preservative 282 in most breads and yoghurts, many spreads, jams and
hard cheeses are the worst contributors to eczema. The natural
chemicals in these foods build up and cause a reaction to the skin.
They are called salycilates. We still have the process each morning
and night of moisturising (find aqueous cream the best of all) and
every now and again it will flare up should he have too much fruit
etc. Whilst his diet is now quite bland, he is such a happy fun-
loving child - its just wonderful. The book is called the Failsafe
Cookbook by Sue Dengate. This book is based on a study held over
several years for children at the Sydney Allergy Unit in Australia.
We even had our child allergy tested (many tests) and these all came
back negative. The only way to test these chemicals is by diet. I
wish you all much luck and please try this diet. Its also on the
web if you would like to read more about it. Of course we have
tried all the creams as well - I work in a Pharmacy and get new
samples every week of different ones - I have not found any
particular one to be outstanding. Best of luck to you all with your
endeavours to find some relief - skin conditions can be so
unrelenting. Very happy to answer any of your questions.
Regards
Veronica
