Introducing myself

Hi,

I wish to join this group and so i shall introduce myself. I’m 26
years old and I live in Sheffield, England. I have suffered from
eczema all of my life and it effects all of my body depending on the
severity of flair ups. I have tried many many treatments. Over the
last 2 or 3 years I have been trying oral treatments, firstly
ciclosporin and more recently azathioprine. Both of these only helped
moderately and now i’m trying montelukast. Often however i find that
only good old steroid cream works. I am also currently fighting
problems with anxiety and shyness for which i am having counseling. I
do not know how closely linked to eczema my psychological problems
are, i have been horrendously shy all of my life.

    To : mrkisthatkid,

In response to your posting, you mentioned that you have had anxiety and shyness
all your life.. I just wanted to comment about it.

First of all, I too have both of these issues. (I’m 35 by the way.).. Most of
the time, these feeling fluxuate with how my skin is doing. More outgoing when
my skin is doing good (self esteme up) and less when my skin is broken out….

I think this all stems back to childhood when I was teased severely about my
skin. I have eczema on my face which tends to be dry and itchy..when I scratch
it, it then bleeds and then I have scabs all over my face… Also mainly the
areas that tend to sweat, creases of arms, behind knees. etc.. also fingers
crack open all the time as well..

For me, it is a constant battle with diet, stress, and allergy triggers…..
Yes, those steroids will work for a bit, but then you have to deal with the
    after-effects of it…..

For me, so far the sea salt baths have kinda worked, and watching my stress and
diet are the main triggers. I was on Claritin which helped my skin some, but
then had side effects that I really didn’t like.

I just wanted to let you know that your not alone. I hope and pray that one day
there will be a ‘cure" for this…But for now, "just keep swimmin".

    God Bless,

    Dave

I have wondered if there is a corrolation between anxiety and eczema. I have
had different anxiety problems all my like phobias and panic attacks. I’ve
also had eczema all my life.

Absolutely! Good detective work. The skin is a window into the health of our
other organs and the mirror of our emotions. You can have a perfect diet,
perfect supplments and perfect skin care products, but if your emotions are
simmering away like a pot of poison in your heart and mind, it will show on your
skin if you are prone to skin issues. Trust me, I know from person experience! I
have found meditation and energy therapy to be the most helpful when it comes to
    these things.

Welcome! I once was painfully shy, too. I even went to the ermergency room twice
in one month because I thought I was having a heart attack (at 19 years old).
Turns out it was anxiety/panic attack. I found meditation has helped
tremendously with both. I am not shy at all anymore and I haven’t had a panic
episode for close to ten years. My skin is also fabulously clear and smooth as
opposed to how it was when I was going through my healing phase.
I was never able to sit still long enough to meditate before, but I have had
success with my 30 minute meditation cds. I use the Ultra Meditation cds from
Mind Tek . The Christopher Love cds are good, too. He has some self hypnosis cds
that are really nice. You can get both on ebay or on the individual websites. I
wish you luck, and let me know if you want to hear about my Flower of Wellness
    protocol.
