Jaundice
Hello Everyone. I am new to this group, but not to Eczema. My
nearly 3 year old son has had eczema since he was 3 months old.
Almost from the begining, the eczema has been pretty severe. We
have tried so many differnt things and nothing seems to work for
him. Poor little guy. Sometimes I just feel so bad for him, he is
such an amazingly strong person to be dealing with all the physical
and mental torment as well as he does. Anyways, over the last few
days I have noticed that he is looking a little jaundiced. I was
wondering if anyone has dealt with this, or knows what could be
going on.
Another question, just for reference, how many of you were or have
children that were significantly jaundiced at birth? I have always
thought that there is some connection. My son was jaundiced for
quite a while. He was kept in the hospital for a few extra days
after birth and then he was on home phototherapy for a few weeks as
well. Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read my post! I look

I didn’t think about a connection between jaundice and
eczema, but my daughter has had eczema also since
about 3 months and she is 3 1/2 also. She was
jaundiced at the hospital but right on the line of
whether or not they had to keep her, and they let us
go home.

I am not sure about this connection because my son
with severe eczema did not have any form of jaundice
at birth. My daughter did have some but not enough to
stay and she doesn’t have any eczema at all. One thing
I was thinking was that when we used Elidel or
different steriod creams after awhile his skin would
get a yellow tint. After stopping all of those he
doesnt have that look anymore. I also remember someone
asking me why his nose looked yellow and at the time
it was when his skin was extremely out of control and
we were using many topical creams and steriods. Hope
this gives an idea.

Hmmm, I wonder about a connection with jaundice and eczema… with the
liver. Jaundice is related to liver issues and eczema as well.
I’d recommend a liver flush (a la Drs. Clarke, or Schultz) and see if
there’s a benefit. That’s my next step as well.
