cradle cap?

My 3 month old is starting to have dryness on his scalp. It started in the
middle and seems to have expanded some. I noticed him scratching it lately and
I am hoping it is only temporary. I don’t know if it is cradle cap or
eczema. He has had dryness on his eyebrows that look like eczema. He had a dry
cheek one day but then that went away. I am just hoping he does not inherit
eczema from me. His daddy used to have dry scalp, so maybe he is doomed for one
or the other!

What do you put on a baby’s scalp? I trimmed his nails as short as I could
get them. He did try to scratch again but at least he can’t do much damage
with no nails. His nails grow so fast though! I try to trim them anyway as he
scratches his face (always has).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Sue

    Hello,

try to control that cradle cup , my baby got the same thing and it seem when
they fall into the face and neck or any part it itches, and everything get
irritated eyes, neck, dipper area, and if you think is eczema, it could be
allergies….If you breastfeed becarefull what you eat, for dry patches I use
vaseline, or cetaphil, my pediatricion recomend head and sholder, when she was
that age, the 2 in one shampoo and conditioner, if is craddle cup should take
care, if it is very bad use it every day for one week and then every other day
and then when is need it, first you put a little of baby oil for 30 min and
then she Headand sholders, massage very gentle for 5 min and rinse …
my douther is 2 now had a very severe eczema, now she is doing better, she is
not itchy …now and then she get rashes but every thing is allergies to food.

Cradle cap generally isn’t itchy. But here’s hoping that is all it
is and that it isn’t eczema. Babies can also get a little bit of
    dryness on their eyebrows.

If you baby doesn’t have much hair then get some vaseline, layer it
on thickly on the baby’s head, leave to sit for a while and then get
a playing card or a business card and use this to scrape off the
    vaseline with the flakes.

Also I am assuming you are breastfeeding your child. If so, stop
drinking milk, it will make the cradle cap go away. I have a 2
month old baby and I don’t drink milk regularly as my toddler had
eczema and was allergic to milk. I bought 2 litres of milk and
drunk this last month. My baby got cradle cap straight away. Once
the 2 litres was finished I stopped drinking it. His cradle cap is

    also going.

My toddler had cradle cap from when he was 1 month old until he was
7 months old. This was when I stopped drinking milk. He had a full
head of hair so the vaseline/card trick didn’t work for us. He also
stopped spitting up after every breastfeed.

Make sure you are getting another source of calcium if you stop milk.

    Cheers,

    Kelly

Thanks. I am not freastfeeding, I had to give it up after only a week and a
half and am still having problems as a result! (3 months later!). I hardly
    drink milk anyway.

We switched his formula a few times but that was due to spitting up, gas and
fussiness. He is now on Nutramagin (Enfamil). We had first switched to soy
but he didn’t due well on that. But this was all before the cradle cap anyway.
It looked like it was getting better for a few days but now looks dry again.
Oh he does have a full head of hair (though some started to fall out but
still has a lot). I try to keep his nails trimmed, as soon as they grow back
    which is quick, he scratches.

    Thanks!
