Seborrheic Dermatitis

Does anyone suffer from Seborrheic Dermatits of the face? If so, what
kinds of symptoms do you have, and what has worked for you? Thanks!

    Hi Chris,

Do you have a red, itchy and burning face? Do pores (especially around oily
    areas) sort of stick out?
Is your face really ‘greasy’ and you can’t clean it because your skin reacts
to anything you use to try to clean it?

I had rosacea subtype 2 and it’s symptoms were pretty much the same as
Seborrheic Dermatitis, so just thought I’d ask you for some more detail.

    Hi Stacey,

I asked those questions to find out if it was like the condition that I had
    (with a red, pizza face).

To cut a long story short!!!! (we all have a long story!!) experimentally I
put Tea Tree Cream on my face one night (desperate as usual) and when I woke
up the next morning all the inflamation was gone. So I kept using it until I
had nice skin again and now just use it if I feel the burning sensation
coming back (when I’ve eaten too much rubbish!!).
I also use an exfoliator and Oil of Olay Moisturiser for Sensitive Skin.
I’ve been symptom free ever since.

I wrote to a researcher in Ireland (can’t remember his name but there was an
article in a psoriasis newsletter I received about his reserach into

rosacea) and told him about it. He replied that it was extremely interesting
as his belief was that rosacean skin was heated more than the non-rosacea
skin and therefore bacteria more prolific. Tea Tree kills bacteria.

I found with the exfoliator that it removes the dead layer of skin buildup,
common to rosacea, and that not only meant that any cream I put on my face
was now directly in contact with my pores, but it also meant that my own
natural oil was able to get to the skin surface - that was the best part as
it couldn’t reach the surface before, my pores were blocked and it was like
I was wearing this thick, dried up, yet greasy leather mask!! Does your face
feel like that? I am sure, in my case, that bacteria were living in a
protected environment under that layer of dead skin. I still can’t believe
I went through all that for years and from what I’ve read I am extremely
lucky to have found something that works for me. I was a wreck.
And I’ll add that doctor’s and dermatologists advice and treatments did make
    it flare up worse.

I’m just wondering if sometimes Seborrheic Dermatitis and Rosacea are
    diagnosed as the same condition??

Anyway, that’s my story! It might be of help to you or someone else on this
    group.
