Please
This groups is to help other people in need not to make money. I am
tired of getting emails from people telling me to buy stuff. Alot of
these people in this group are desperate just like myself and telling
them to buy this and that just to make a buck is not right. Ugh!!!

True - I can’t stand these things myself. I really wonder about the
effectiveness of Emu Oil or Neem Oil or Noni Juice or any other number of
miracle cures. I think that these things might be able to help in some fashion,
but I really don’t know.
So far, what has worked for me is minimizing the things I do take in. I am
doing really well right now, tho’ there are times it’s really incredibly
irritating and there are parts of me that always seem to itch a little. Amazing
how easy it is to ignore just one spot.
But it was one of the tips on this board that helped me - I am now avoiding
anything with Dimethicone in it, like Aveeno creams. I may have to keep
switching creams every do often, I’m not sure, but this one was really bothering
me. My skin is now slowly healing and my hands are 1000% better, even if it
takes a long time for the discoloration and dryness to get completely normal,
it’s better than it was.
I kept using it every day many times a day and I kept getting worse. I stopped
and I am getting better - now I need to look for the next thing that bothers me.
I think what we have is a really specific allergy or series of allergies that
our body is responding to. Elimination diets may not fix everything because
there may be something topical or environmental as well. But I think they are a
good idea. Hopefully, we’ll all find what’s bothering us. The thing that gets me
just about every time is that whatever I am using all the time or eating all the
time or exposed to all the time is often what’s bothering me, but I don’t think
about it because I am around it all the time.
I was also told Dimethicone wasn’t a problem ingredient, but it was for me, it
seems.
I thought Aveeno was perfectly neutral and that it wasn’t bothering me, until
suddenly, it was driving me crazy and my rash was getting everywhere and really
aggravated. Now my hands almost look normal - or at least normal by comparison.
I also stopped ignoring that moment when my hands hurt. Lotion should not make
your hands sting or whatever part of your body you put it on. It took me until I
was 34 to make that connection? The thing that throws me is that one day,
something won’t bother me, then a few days later, it will. I have to pay
attention every time.
As for me, I’ve had good spells in the past. I am trying to see what else I
can find that’s bothering me while it’s not taking over my life. There’s no
magic bullet, but there is a solution, I’m sure of it.
I hope this helps somebody.
Keith

I’m also quitting my "Dimethicone" addiction. (Although it’s hard since it’s
in a lot of things) I think maybe they put it in there because it feels good
for the moment but then 2 hours later you need more.

I had to get some ibuprofen at the store yesterday and was comparing the
generic to Advil and guess what? Advil has Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in it! What
the heck????

What specifically was it that you used on your hands that had dimethicone in
it? My hands are always the worse area and are pretty bad right now. It’s
hard cause I am constantly washing my hands, especially with a baby around.
Also doing lots of cleanig as we are in a new house….and it’s colder weather
now, when I used to flare up, when I lived north (winter).
Wanted to also comment that I use Curel and it is one of the only lotions
(that is affordable anyway) that does not burn my cracked hands.
thanks.

Hi Sue -
I was using Aveeno, tho’ I wonder if that’s what was really bothering me. I
thought it was because my skin stopped bothering me when I stopped using it and
started using straight coconut oil. Then a week later, my skin started
bothering me kinda the same way with coconut oil.
I have no idea what would have caused this or what this means. Just when I
think I get something figured out, it gets confusing again.
I’m sorry if this doesn’t help much, but I am going to keep avoiding
Dimethicone, myself.
K
thanks.

I never had success with Aveeno….I tried the baths and at first it was
soothing but then after I was itchier (is that a word!?) than ever.
But my problem is other chemicals which I wasn’t aware of then….
