Cradle Cap

Hi and Happy New Year to everyone,

My mother in law (bless her soul) was big on old fashioned
remedies. Lets face it…a long time ago, they didn’t have Dr’s you
could go to for every little malady their kids had. She shared lots
of little home remedies with me over the years, but she sword by
this remedy for Cradle Cap when her babies got it back in the 40’s.
I used it on my kids in the 70’s and my daughter used it on her kids
in the late 80’s and 90’s. I was skeptical at first (wasn’t sure I
wanted my kids smelling like a salad), but this works so well I
thought I’d share. Actually the smell is pleasant and not at all
offensive.

During their bath, wash their little heads with a mild clear shampoo
(I used Castile shampoo) but anything clear and mild will do. Towel

dry their hair and rub Olive Oil on the dry patches of cradle cap.
Take a soft baby hairbrush and very gently massage the oil into the
dry patches. The next day, remove any loose scales and rub a little
more olive oil into the dry patches and use the baby brush again to
loosen the scales. Re-do the process that night. After a few
times, you will notice those dry patches loosening and the cradle
cap will start clearing up.

Olive oil is also better to use on your babies skin than Baby oil
because Olive oil doesn’t have any perfume in it. My little grand
babies line up after their baths to get their olive oil rub down.
they have the softest skin. I use it after my showers because of
the desert climate I live in.

Take care of those precious little ones,

Dede
