SLS

Monday, July 31st, 2006

By the way, some products say they don’t have SLS in them but they do have
Sodium myreth(or some other word) Sulfate. Wouldn’t they be close to the
same thing? Please everyone: It’s very important you read the ingredients!
I also have noticed now that there are SO many ingredients/chemicals in
products that the type is very small so bring a magnifier! Lol…seriously
though they make a small magnifier with a little light on it that is as
small as a credit card. I saw it on one of those TV commercials. I also saw
it at Walgreens drug Store in the "As seen on TV" section but didn’t see the
price.

Sodium lauryl Sulfate. It’s in almost all shampoos among other products.

so what’s SLS?

2 Eczema creams required to carry new cancer warnings

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

WASHINGTON, Jan. 19 (Xinhuanet) — Two prescription creams to treat
eczema will have to carry "black box" warnings about possible cancer
risks, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said Thursday.

The FDA action, in accordance with its advisory committee recommendation
last February, affects Novartis AG’s Elidel and Astellas Pharma Inc.’s
Protopic. "Black box" warning is the strongest type used in the United
States.

The new labels are also required to clarify that both treatments are
recommended for use only after other prescription topical medicines have
been tried first.

The FDA decision is based on reports of cancers, including skin cancer
and lymphoma, in patients using the two drugs. There had been reports of

Skin Product Analysis

Monday, July 24th, 2006

I found a cool website that goes through lots of products like
toothpaste, baby wipes, shampoo, soap and more. It analysis the
ingredients and rates which ones are low risk, moderate risk and high
risk for problems. It is so good! I agree- if you can’t eat it- don’t
put it on.

Psoriasis and Staff Infection

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Dear Friends-
As I search to find the cure to my psoriasis I have come across a
chiropractor that thinks Psoriasis may be linked to a staff infection.
Have any of you heard that before?

I will not give up!!

Another culprit….my detergent.

Monday, July 17th, 2006

So I finally decided to buy a detergent free from chemicals from the
health food store. I washed my sheets and all my clothes. I never
had such a wonderful sleep. I barely itched and my hands are looking
smoother as ever. I also did buy tar soap and used coconut oil
instead of olive oil…..I didn’t like the smell of olive oil so I
switched. So guys cross your fingers. I might just beat this thing.
I think myh allergies have to do with alot of chemicals fom everyday
products. No lotion for me either! I am actually figthing this
without the use of steroids!!! So please if anyone is still using
that dangerous drug…..STOP!!! Trust me when I completely stopped
using those creams………I thought my hands were gonna break from
cracks. I almost wanted to chop them off from embarrasment and
pain!!! My hands are looking a bit normal…..after 3 yrs!

Light Treatment

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

What exactly does a light treatment do?? It is so hard to find a
dermatologist who has this in South Florida. My dermatoligist told me
it costs around $3,000.00. I am not sure if insurance covers this. I
can’t find much info about this and how it helps eczema. Does anyone
have a link that I can look at?

Sun Beds

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

A colleague of my boyfriend said that a session on a sunbed really
helped with her psoriasis. I know there is light treatment but im not
sure how that differs to sun beds. Im really dubious of them and the
possibilities of skin cancer. Has anyone tried it and if so has it
helped?

Stress (Newspaper Article Dec 05)

Saturday, July 15th, 2006

Just reading the stress posts. I actually cut out and kept the following
article that was in our newspaper (Mercury, Tasmania) in Dec 05.

Researchers prove stress linked to sickness
—————————————————————-
STRESS makes you sick and that is official.

Researchers at Sydney’s Garvan Institute found the hormone neuropeptide Y -
NPY - often released during stress, can prevent the immune system
functioning properly.

Associate professors Fabienne Mackay and Herbert Herzog said their findings,
published in yesterday’s edition of the Journal of Experimental Medicine,
proved a link between the brain and the immune system.

Does stress really make it worse??? My eczema started during a break-
up and during my father’s cancer ordeal. I am not sure about this.

The healing begins but the ITCHING is so bad at night.

Tuesday, July 11th, 2006

Is there something I can put to relieve the itching. Always at around
midnight while I am sleeping I wake up scratching my eczema. I am
gonna try wearing long gloves. Please help. I quit using lotions and
just put olive oil.
