More about lotions & Dimethicone
You know, I don’t mean to keep harping on this, but I have had severe eczema
on my hands for about 20 years and now my hands look & feel almost normal - and
this happened this week after I quit using Aveeno and anything with that
Dimethicone stuff in it. I am really awed by what has happened - I put coconut
oil on my hands twice a day (as opposed to using moisturizers 10-12 times a day)
and I’m not needing more than that!
I have been controlling my diet (no nuts), really limiting everything I eat
and doing accupuncture as well, but it wasn’t until I got rid of that stuff that
there was this radical change. I urge anyone with eczema on their hands to
really look at the things they expose themselves to constantly. The lotion thing
really blows me away. I thought that product was supposed to be good for people
with our conditions…!
So now I’d like to make some of my own lotions with coconut or olive oil - can
anyone suggest a recipe or maybe some beneficial herbs to include? Using
straight coconut oil has been great, but I’m also watching out for a reaction to
that, just in case. I think it’s neutral, but I’ve been fooled before.
If I come up with anything good, I’ll share it with the group. Please check
out whatever you’re using, no matter how long you’ve been using it. My hands
aren’t cracked or in pain - incredibly dry, but not painful. It’s not perfect,
but this is so much better than they have been in so long. And it was something
I was using constantly. I’m not sure if I’m going to trust any mass-produced
lotions ever again.

I am with you. I have quit using Aveeno entirely now I smell like a
salad because I use olive oil on my skin. But I think like I have
written before that the solution could be the problem. I am going to
whole foods and see if I can find natural and organic lotion. I think
my skin needed to breathe. I am just experimenting alot. When I get
everything in order I will share my experience. Overall I think we all
should watch what we eat and stay away from everyday chemicals. My
hands still have some cracks but I think it was from extreme itching
last night. I am going to buy those long tacky gloves. I used to have
it on my feet and when I stopped picking on it my feet are almost
eczema free just peels sometimes
