Sun Beds
A colleague of my boyfriend said that a session on a sunbed really
helped with her psoriasis. I know there is light treatment but im not
sure how that differs to sun beds. Im really dubious of them and the
possibilities of skin cancer. Has anyone tried it and if so has it
helped?

I’ve had a session of UVB at our local hospital (ordered by my dermatologist)
and it really helps. It’s very strictly controlled, with the time gradually
increased. There is also a control on the number of sessions you can have in
your lifetime.

My dermatologist told me that the light treatment for people with my condition
and the extent of my eczema being so severe that it would actually make my skin
even drier and since I am black with dark skin it would make my skin darker and
I definitely did not want that. I am already so dry I could not stand to be
even more drier than usual. But talk with your doctor because comments made by
members in this group it has helped. Check with your insurance to see if they
would cover it. Mine would have but my doctor decided against it.
