Another culprit….my detergent.

So I finally decided to buy a detergent free from chemicals from the
health food store. I washed my sheets and all my clothes. I never
had such a wonderful sleep. I barely itched and my hands are looking
smoother as ever. I also did buy tar soap and used coconut oil
instead of olive oil…..I didn’t like the smell of olive oil so I
switched. So guys cross your fingers. I might just beat this thing.
I think myh allergies have to do with alot of chemicals fom everyday
products. No lotion for me either! I am actually figthing this
without the use of steroids!!! So please if anyone is still using
that dangerous drug…..STOP!!! Trust me when I completely stopped
using those creams………I thought my hands were gonna break from
cracks. I almost wanted to chop them off from embarrasment and
pain!!! My hands are looking a bit normal…..after 3 yrs!

Wisk was the worst detergent for me - I think it’s what helped make my skin
really bad for the past while. Now I’m using All Clear or whatever perfume and
scnet-free version they have. THings are better, but is there another detergent
    anyone can recommend?

Also - about coconut oil - I am starting to rotate it in with olive oil and
with that heavy thick Eucerin cream (the oily one) because, after a few days, my
skin was getting aggravated again. I don’t think it was the coconut oil, which
felt great, but that my body seems to keep reacting to things, no matter how
neutral they are, it’s only good for so long. Does this make any sense?

like i said before keith….try going to your local health food store. they
have tons of stuff in there. but again it is different for everyone. i am
almost totally free of using chemicals. i still eat lil junk here and there
but not like before. the detergent i am using is a natural one…plant
extracts…if i could i would buy organic…i don’t think it is possible to eat
    all
raw and all organic in our world today since it can get
expensive..eliminating what u can is. i thought my eczema was really bad in my
    hands but after
being in this group i dont think it is that bad anymore since some have it all
    over the body.

yes…i’ve noticed that about myself too..

I’ve been looking for a great exfoliator…because when I’m in the shower, I
always (this is nasty I know) used my nails to scrape the dry skin off. It would
come of very nicely, but obviously no good for my eczema.

Then I heard plain regular sugar is a great exfoliator. I used it in the
shower, and that particular day I was very itchy, and when I came out it was
like I was a new person…my skin felt so soft and I felt so relaxed… But I
tried it again a week later…and it was the same as before using the sugar. So
i guess you have to use it rarely to get the great effects… I haven’t used it
much after that…but it is great for the soles of your feet..it really softens
    them up.

Keith, you may want to take a look at a) what you’re eating on the days
your skin flares up, or b) consider that you may even be detoxing a bit
and the fleeing toxins are upsetting your skin.

    Just some ideas,

Try either sugar or sea salt in olive oil (you can add a few drops of
essential oils to this as well. I use lavender) as a body scrub. This
isn’t good to use on your day to shave though. lol

I’m glad to hear someone else say this, because I’m experiencing the
same thing. Things will go fine for several days, then the exact same
lotion or whatever provokes a flare up. Very Frustrating.

Fabric softeners are even worse than the detergents. I found an
alternative that really works well. It’s called "Static Eliminator
Reusable Dryer Sheets". It’s a reusable cloth with no fragrances or
other chemicals. You just keep it in the dryer and somehow, it really
does work as well or better than the liquid or disposable dryer sheets.
I got mine from mileskimball.com (item 82511) but you can google the
    name for other sources.
