Swedish Bitters Experience, Anyone?
Recently used Swedish Bitters for the first time, and I have to say, I
saw an improvement in my eczema . . . until I couldn’t stand the taste
anymore!!! lol Now, I’m going to work on figuring out how to take it
without tasting it - can’t hide it in juice or anything, because this
stuff is LOUD!!!!!
Interestingly, my husband has suffered this past year terribly with
anal abcesses and then fistulas. He was heading for surgery for sure,
but had resisted so long I thought I’d try a natural remedy. I read
about the Bitters, and ordered them. We were both SHOCKED when
suddenly, the problem for him cleared up completely, and within 1
week!!! He hasn’t been free a single day in the last year from this
hellacious affliction until now. That was a month and a half ago, and
no reappearance yet! keep fingers crossed !!!
Anybody else had any experience with them, good or bad? I’m interested
in doing research but I’m gathering up experience accounts before I
waste any time.

Hi Karen:
I’ve tried Swedish Bitters, but didn’t notice anything. How long did you
take it before you noticed improvement w/your eczema? (Yep it does taste
terrible!) And I’m surprised about the bitters helping w/your hubby’s
fistulas. Wow, why do the bitters help that?
Might try the Swedish bitters again, but would like to know how much and how
long you took them before noticing anything.
Thx.

I had taken 1 Tablespoon a day for 2 weeks. And it nearly knocked me to the
floor the first 4 or 5 times!!! I began to notice several things within days:
-I felt more alert and was able to wake up on my own the following day and
each day afterward until I stopped taking it (I have difficulty with waking in
the mornings, can’t hear the clock at all; hubby has to wake me. This just
started about a year ago)
-I have a patch of eczema on my inner thigh that flares up with hormone
fluctuations monthly, although it doesn’t get NEARLY as bad as it used to since
I started using the balm. This patch got bright red after 4 days of taking the
bitters, but it didn’t itch. The skin started smoothing out somewhat, and the
edges got somewhat ragged and began to shrink back some. At the same time, the
area itself raised up more, but the edges were shrinking.
-After 7 days, the bright redness went away, but it stayed raised. I noticed
it shrinking back just a little. The skin where it was was shiney and smooth,
almost like a burn that was healing. Weird.
-On the 11th day, it was not raised up like before, and was not shrinking back
that I could tell any further. I thought about increasing the dosage but I
didn’t. My husband began taking it at the same time, and we were getting low on
supply!
-I stopped taking it on the 13th day so he could finish taking it because he
noticed and immediate improvement in his "condition".
-When I stopped taking it, it puffed up a little after about 3 days without
the bitters, and then it started to itch. I continue to treat it with the balm
now, and that keeps it from itching except on a rare occasion.
-Thought about taking it again, but honest to God, call me a baby, but it’s so
nasty tasting I almost would rather deal with eczema!! I might try taking it in
a gel capsule that I make myself, but the information with this product says
that it is important to "taste it, let it cross your tongue to prepare your
stomach for what is coming". Now I know why! Nobody should ever be caught by
this much surprise!!! lol lol lol
The taste of Swedish Bitters is WRONG on many, many levels!!! lol lol But
apparently, it has done some good for my husband. That man was in absolute
agony!!! He hates doctors, and especially with the area of the "problem" he had,
he was being terribly stubborn about treatment (Men!!!). I found Swedish Bitters
on the internet by searching for "anal abscess"! Couldn’t believe it, but I
ordered it anyway, hoping it might have an impact until I could talk him into
going to the doctor. There’s a whole list of things it’s suppose to "cure", and
I was extremely skeptical, but his situation made me take a chance. I’m glad I
did! After 1 WEEK, his problem cleared up completely!! Not a trace now. No bowel
problems, no nausea and vomiting, no painful sitting, no more doughnut pillow!!!
lol lol lol He took it until it was gone, about 2 weeks total, same dose. No
more problems. I’m just amazed!
Before anyone thinks this is an advertisement, let me say that I do not sell
this product. I am, however, very very interested in knowing more, and from
others especially. There must be something to it. I just saw for myself my
husband’s amazing experience. Now, if I can only brave the taste to test it on
my eczema . . . .

LOL, thanks so much, Karen. I’m gonna have to muster up some courage to
take it. I hope I won’t have to take it forever, tho! My husband has taken
it and doesn’t seem to mind it at all. I think men have a different set of
tastebuds! LOL He likes some smells that I can’t stand, and vice versa.
LOL Same goes for tastes in foods, too. Sigh.

You bet they do! These are the same guys that were comparing their gaseous
emissions to the Richter scale on the playground 20& 30 years ago! lol lol lol
I did start to get a little used to it, though. I don’t see it ever becoming a
side dish at dinner, but I might could tolerate it temporarily.
My coworkers call me "The Witchdoctor" because I’m always experimenting with
some treatment of a homemade variety. Usually I make my kids be the guinea pigs.
My daughter actually ate my goat’s milk soap one time thinking it was white
chocolate. They eat anything that doesn’t eat them first! lol lol But funny
thing, the Bitters stayed right there in the cabinet . . .
lol

Sorry about the Dictioanry entries. My mistake (and surprise!!)
September 28th, 2006 at 9:20 pm
Hi Karen,
I understand there are several versions of ‘Swedish Bitters’ from the short
formula (Maria Treben formula) to the long formula (Paracelsus formula).
Are you able to say which version you used and where you ordered it?
Many thanks.

Hey there -
Someone just said:
I felt more alert and was able to wake up on my own the following day and each
day afterward until I stopped taking it (I have difficulty with waking in the
mornings, can’t hear the clock at all; hubby has to wake me. This just started
about a year ago)
Do a lot of people find themselves exhausted? I am having a hell of a time
getting up this morning & I think it’s because I might be flared up.
I think I’ve gotten a little (okay, more than a little) off the path these
days. Not that controlling eczema is a religious pilgramage (tho’ it might feel
that way at times), but I don’t have a lot of tolerance and I find that when I’m
feeling really run down, my lungs start bothering me as well.
I’m not having the kinds of flare-ups I was havingeven a few months ago, but my
skin is incredibly dry and there is more of it covered with eczema than there
had been before.
How does anyone do about exercising when they feel like this?
Keith

Keith,
Yes, I am another one. I never feel like getting up first thing in the
morning. I took Voluntary Early Retirement because I do not have the energy
I used to. At the time, I put it down to getting older, but I see there are
older people with more energy than me.

It’s the "alcohol" version of the Maria Treben formula. I thought about the
non-alcohol, but alcohol would have been used most likely to decoct the original
formula (my guess, and just a guess) since it has notoriously been used down
through history in this type of remedy. I thought I’d get my feet wet with the
short version, then consider the long. I got it from . . . some store on the
internet. I can’t remember which just now, I’d have to look it up, but it was a
popular website like drugstore.com. It might have been them.

If you can’t get up in the morning it is because your life is not the way you
want and it depresses you. You can start by eliminating all the elements that
cause you stress and unbalance you. It’s all psychic. I was like you before
and now, I have no trouble waking up. Follow your rythm. We’re not machines.
If you like to stay in bed 30 minutes after waking, then, do that, and wake up
30 minutes sooner for work. Sun has a lot to di with it. If you have SAD, you
need sun, so try to move to a warmer climate and change your life. Forgive my
directness, hope it is useful.

Chris, appreciate directness, so I hope you will appreciate mine as well:
You have many valid points. However, they are not the ONLY explanation for not
being able to wake up. I do not suffer from depression. I take a medication for
another condition (started it a year ago) that causes me to stay awake late
sometimes, sometimes not be able to sleep at all, and occasionally, when I go to
sleep, I cannot hear one thing, as if I’m unconscious. It is most likely a
side-effect from the medication and it’s interaction with my metabolism,
according to the doctor. I love my life, I have a wonderful outlook, and I enjoy
my job. I have no reason to "not" want to get up, other than a physical reason.
My psychological reasons are just the opposite. I can’t wait to get up and enjoy
another day, learn something new, challenge myself in some intriguing way,
and/or play with my young son and granddaughter. I’m active, intelligent, happy,
better off emotionally and physically than I have been in many years, and my
marriage is wonderful. Come to think of it, my life is as
close to perfect as it has ever been!
I just can’t wake up. Once I wake up, I’m on. But just being able to hear the
clock is a major problem. For whatever reasonl, the bitters seemed to improve
that temporarily. Again, I don’t sell Swedish bitters. I just noticed this as a
side effect.

Yes, I am another one. I never feel like getting up first thing in the
morning. I took Voluntary Early Retirement because I do not have the energy
I used to. At the time, I put it down to getting older, but I see there are
older people with more energy than me.

I guess my advice was not very helpful. Maybe your medication is too strong and
interfering with your natural sleeping cycle. Good luck! You sound like you’re
doing great overall!

You’re advice was most helpful, just not applicable in my case. But there are
many people who would benefit from such good advice! Also, nutrition plays a
very large role in one’s life, probably moreso than anyone cares to admit or
maybe that we even know of, but I find that people are very hesitant to make
changes in that direction. It’s a shame because that’s the source of so many of
our problems. But if people cannot or will not address it, then the only
recourse is to treat the symptoms. My balm and soaps do that.

I agree. We have al the tools today with the access to information. We can be
our own doctors, to a certain extent. We should be proud of ourselves in making
the effort to get that info. I know many who do not even have the will to search
the info ont the net and resort to cortisone and the other poisons. The pain and
discomfort of my eczema sure was motivating for me.
Best of health, Christine
