Eczema Spreading

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

Hi. My name is Angie and I am new to the group. I started having red
spots on my upper arms around the age of 12 and it seems to be getting
worse each year and is spreading to my lower arms now. Doctors have
tried different topical creams which doesn’t seem to help. Someone
told me that they started taking flaxseed oil and it cleared up after
several months. I just wondered if anyone else had tried this and also
I’ve noticed that my arms aren’t red at all when I wake up in the
mornings and are also worse in the summer. One dermatogolist told me
they are better in the morning b/c my sleeves aren’t rubbing against
my arms but that isn’t true b/c the covers are. I was also thinking
that the symptoms are worse in the summer due to my pollen allergies.
Any ideas or similarities to your conditions?

Cystic Acne

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

I think I have cystic ance, I have had many severe kiolids on my chest
& breasts since I was about 14 I have had steriod injections in the
past but that just caused other problems. These scars are painful at
times, like I’m being stung by a bee and itch constantly. My doc said
E oil might help but that just caused more break outs. It’s driving me
crazy!! any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Recently Diagnosed with Eczema - So many Questions!!!

Monday, September 11th, 2006

Over the past 15 months my skin has had this rash. Last October -
2004 it started with just a small patch on my thigh. It spread on
my back, butt, and thighs and by this December - 2005, it had
literally taken over my entire body. I had oodles of blood work
done - it all came back perfectly normal and I had a patch
biopsied - which revealed only that I had irritated skin cells -
it’s apparently not an allergic reaction to anything - and it’s not
a bacteria. The diagnosis was: Dry skin Ezcema. What is strange,
though, is that it doesn’t itch - at all! Ezcema is always supposed
to itch. My rash hurts, is sensitive to the touch, and radiates
like sunburn. I’ve been treating the rash with all kinds of creams
and the derm wants to put me on Prednisone - which I don’t want to
take - especially if it’s only a treatment and not a cure.
Prednisone is nasty - with horrible side effects. It could have
been aggrivated by all the stress in my life - who knows. They say

New member — my background, eczema and chiropractic, LONG POST!

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Hi everyone, my name is Justin, I’m in the USA. I’m glad there are so
many people who can share their experienes with eczema, but at the
same time it is all very overwhelming because everyone has their own
solutions to deal with E, and what works for one may not work for the
other. Anyway, I’d thought I would talk about my background. Any
feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve started chiropractic care for my lower back, but he told me that
chiropractic care can be used to heal me of my eczema, to bring my
body back to "homeostatis" and be "disease free." Well I decided to
go with the treatment. During the first week or so, he informed me
about retracing, a concept that I’m still having trouble accepting to
this day. He told me that as I go through the process, I may get
symptions that I have experienced in the past that I know longer had,
as the my body "goes back" to the original state of health before my

Teenage Experience

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

I’m a new member to this group, so I figure I should give a small background on
what I have and what I know. I’ve had eczema from a very young age, but,
luckily for me, that went away completely before I went into elementary school,
sparing me from what I imagine would be childhood torment from my peers.
However, as if by cruel choice, eczema hit me like a brick wall during puberty.
Since then, it has been an uphill battle, but one that I have winning for the
most part. So if any of you are in your teens, or have children who are getting
around that age, feel free to ask me questions about the social end of things
and how to deal with that. Its not too different from anything else, but
sometimes you just like to hear it from someone who’s gone through it.

On a side from that, I’ve got a few questions.

Does anyone find that the less hair you have, the les irritated the skin
becomes? My arms used to itch a lot, until I shaved off the hair in a desperate

Oily skin remedy?

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

I have terribly oily skin. I hate it! It seemed to be really bad within
the last year (age 26). I use retin-A, clydamycin, and benzoclin to
combat my acne and reduce the scarring.

I recently went to a dermo, and she gave me another retinol, tazorac,
and then she gave me Effidrate, which is a moisturizing oil controlling
lotion with corn starch in it from La Roche-Posay.

My skin is still oily, although the lotion is kindof helping. I also
use only oil-free make up (basically everything I use is oil free).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am thinking about doing the master cleanse to clean out my body of
toxins.

WOW!!

Monday, September 4th, 2006

I am so excited to have found this group. My daughter is 3 and has
eczema really bad! She gets it on her face, arms and bottom. After
some time I think we have finally narrowed down the aggitators! Mostly
environmental things. For a long time we were having major issues
because she had to bathe daily, but that alone made it bad. I think
for the most part we have it under control now. I finally found an all
natural baby line (wash and baby oil) that doesn’t have mineral oils
and other yucky fillers in it. Plus a skin conditioning oil that
actually keeps the skin soft.

Does anyone know the chances of my other children having this too (I
have soon to be 3 younger than her)??? Is this genetic normlly??

powdered bentonite clay

Sunday, September 3rd, 2006

Hello All!

Just wondering if any of you use powdered bentonite clay for bath soaks, and
if so, from where do you purchase your clay? I’m hoping to find a source
that sells in bulk so that I can purchase a large bag–maybe 25lbs or so.

Thanks, guys!

Obesity - Weight - Eczema

Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

I wonder if being overweight can cause Eczema. When I didn’t have Eczema I
would lose weight and my skin would look much better. I am just wondering if
how many in this group are overweight or not proportioned to their height??? I
mean it makes sense that having eczema shows that something is wrong with our
bodies. So far my hands are looking better. I am on a three month cleansing
program for the colon and whole body. I am not exactly going all the way
organic but I do eat lots of regular veggies and fruits along with not too good
foods like pasta once in awhile. I am taking Udo’s Choice Oil and vitamins. I
just think Eczema shows that something is wrong within and we just need to
correct it. I am sure I am deficient of lots of thing since I love junk food
and I did play with drugs when I was younger. I am sure that all those things
had to do with my Eczema today. I do hope everyone is doing well with their
skin or getting better.
