Help for a child
I’m currently working with a 4 year old boy with severe eczema on the
majority of his body. His mother and I are looking for anything that
will help with symptoms. We have already tried numerous creams, bath
products, changing sheets and clothes, etc. We are especially looking
for something that will allow him to sleep. If you have any
suggestions, please contact me. Thank you.

I have a 4 year old daughter. I have been trying to
heal her eczema since about 1 year of age. I believe
it is a gut issue, with food particles seeping through
the gut lining. Otherwise referred to as leaky
gut…..you can do allergy testing by blood test, or
if you know an NAET practitioner you can test
sensitivities to thousands of substances without using
a needle at all. I have found that my daughter
basically has allergies to the things she eats most
often. I believe this is because these are the foods
that make their way into the blood stream and are
identified as foreign particles and attacked by the
immune system response and the histamine reaction.
Taking out dairy and wheat are a great place to start.
All dairy (including casein….milk protein, and
whey), and all wheat flours.
Most would suggest taking an omega 3 oil, like fish
oil or DHA liquid. This needs to be of high quality
to assure no mercury. Get it from a reputable health
food store or health practitioner. Also, most would
suggest using a probiotic like acidophilus to help
build the gut flora back up.
Regular bathing helps if they will soak in the tub.
Epson salt really helps my daughter tolerate the tub.
Immed after the bath, do not dry him off. Just Apply
a thick emmoliant like Aquaphor to really help hydrate
the skin. I will tell you, I do not completely agree
with using this product since it is petroleum based,
but it does the best job keeping my daughter’s skin
soft. I tried organic shea butter. It is the best
natural option I think.
I pray alot. I prayed for this little one. I
completely understand the pain and frustration this
mother has for her son. I hope something helps that
I have written. My best wishes.

My daughters is breaking out really horribly right now (we think do to the
inconsistant weather), but her pedi told me to add baking powder to the bath
water. This nutralizes the ph and makes it a bit less irritating. I know it
works great for diaper rash!

hello,
I am sorry to hear that…I remember of my baby for almost 2 years she was
like that, there was not a part of her body with normal skin, she was itchy all
day, she did not eat well or sleep….
we tried a lot too…and no cream or benadryl or atrax or zyrtec will
help…..for my baby she was allergic to food…dairy, soy, eggs, peanuts,
chicken even beef……we visit an allergist and we star a diet ….and she
improve so much ….
we avoid wheat, and tropical, berries, melon fruits….nothing all ready made,
everyting we maid it at home, and season with little salt….
she could eat…
fruits , veggies, potatoes, beans, we try cod fish and pork….
but when we star just one at a time…for a week she eat potatoes with
corn….she was 18 month so she was OK….and star adding a new food every week
…
It seems hard but is worth it at the time she was breast feeding so I had to
do the same thing…… we add some vitamins and supplements, allergies gave us
a list…I can give you more info if you like too….
now she is itchy some times but her skin look normal, and hair is growing…
My name is Pamela I live in Atlanta my phone is 404-587-3082….I can give a
call if you like to…

Hi. You may have read a former post of mine, or not. I will briefly summarize:
I’ve had eczema for over 29 years, and two of my 3 children do as well. I am a
former nursing student who had to leave school because my hands were so deeply
gashed open in the palms from the eczema and harsh handsoaps I was required to
use at the time. Out of desparation, I spent one summer and developed my own
eczema balm from Calendula flowers, essential oils, olive oil and beeswax. I has
worked like a charm for me, but is no cure, only a management tool. It still
flares up from time to time, but so infrequently that I really can’t recall one
lately. This is due mostly to chemical exposure or sugar intake. I sell the balm
on my website, www.pottingshedapothecary.com. I would like to send you a free
sample of the balm and goat’s milk/honey/oatmeal soap that works so very well
for eczema skin. It is very soothing, softening, and has no fragrance added
(although it has a faint vanilla-oat type natural
aroma).
Some things I have found extremely helpful:
Change laundry detergents to All Free and Clear.
at all times that will keep
Get rid of any harsh chemicals and use natural cleansers.
Do not use air fresheners, dryer sheets, room sprays, etc. anywhere in the
house.
Vacuum very frequently (dust mites)
Control allergies with removal of allergens or medication
Change diet to exclude: sugars, carbohydrates in large amounts, chocolate,
dairy products including cheese and eggs. Add these back ONE at a time for 2
weeks and watch for outbreaks of eczema worsening. When you find the food that
triggers an outbreak, eliminate it completely from your diet. If none of these
is a trigger, proceed with wheat (gluten) etc. Allergy testing may or may not
reveal allergies. My son has reactions to dairy products when he is stressed
out. He isn’t allergic to them (according to MD), but he doubles over in pain
when he does have a reaction.
Keep something on the eczema area like my balm
the skin pliable and soothed. Don’t cover the area though!
I’m sure there’s more things to consider, but I’m out of time. Email me
privately with your physical address and I will mail the samples to you asap.
