New to Group- Psoriasis Suffer

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

Hi all I am a suffer of Psoriasis and have been for about 6 years now
with NO let up ever- it is itchy, painful and ugly. I do not wear
shorts or short skirts as my knees seem to be the number one thing
people need to stare at or ask about in a derogatory way. I dread
going out in public in short sleeve shirts but since I live in Texas I
have to wear them. I have tried various Drs and thier various drugs-
nothing really works for me. I would love to hear some of what has
worked for others.

My hands

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

get bad rash looking things on the knuckles and crack and
bleed. The doctor says it’s exzema, but I can’t seem to control it.
I could really use some advice on this. I wash my hands a lot so that
doesn’t help. I need something that is easy and won’t leave me stuck
in the bathroom because I forgot to open the door first and the knob
is too slippery. It also can not feel grimy because I will wash it
off. I can not stand for my hands to feel dirty! Well thanks for
your input! Take care everyone and I hope you are having a great week!

OILY SKIN AND ACNE

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

I have suffered with acne all my life as well as oily skin. I tried
almost every product out there even proactiv and nothing worked. One
day someone at this site recommended zapzyt and it works great. I no
longer have the severe breakouts I once did. I use nuetrogena two in
one facial cleanser which is a mask and cleanser. It works great but I
still have oily skin. I cannot fine a moisturizer to control the oil.
I only wash my face twice a day. Help please.

Monday, November 27th, 2006

I copied this part from the page for you to read.

Even Bigger Dermatologist’s Secret: 2% pyrithione zinc containing
dandruff shampoos are frequently used by dermatologists as an "off
label" (not officially FDA approved use) treatment for helping control
other conditions such as acne rosacea, tinea versicolor, perioral
dermatitits, psoriasis and eczema. If your doctor has made this
treatment recommendation, ask him/her if substituting DERMAdoctor Born
To Be Mild Medicated Cleanser is right for you.

Gentle for use on face and body even if you suffer from sensitive skin
conditions, psoriasis or eczema.

It´s not necessary to have a skin condition to enjoy Born To Be Mild.

Hello New Member here with Eczema returning after a decade!

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

Hello all, my name is Shefy. I’m 22 years old, female, and overall
healthy. I live in northern California where the weather is cold cold
in winter and hot hot in summer.

I had a little eczema on my ring fingers when I was about 12 years
old. I don’t remember how long I had it, but hydrocortisone took care
of it. I just got it again after 10 years on my left ring finger
mainly. I also think I may have it on my upper lip, I’m not sure. I’m
thinking it might be due to me getting sick about a month ago. It was
like the flu (I’m still having a little yellow mucus though), but all
those symptoms are gone now. My lips got very dry and itchy, and
that’s still there. Oh and I also have gallstones…and I’m doing
flushes regularly…I have tried hydrocortisone, aveeno anti-itch, ice
packs, jojoba oil, olive oil, honey, milk, everything! My doctor wants
to try strong steroid cream, but I’m hesitant.

dry skin that won’t geet any better, doesn’t get any worse

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

I’m kinda confused about what’s happening with my skin these days. I haven’t
needed to moisturize as much as I used to - my hands stay flexible, I don’t have
red, weeping breakouts and the rash isn’t as "deep" as it used to be.

This new lighter rash covers the back of my hands and my arms up to the
shoulders and then my neck. It used to be isolated to my hands and was really
deep and incredibly painful. It’s almost like the rash has been diluted over a
larger area. Anyone have any ideas about how I might improve from here or even
what’s happening here?

It feels much, much drier and almost "ashy." I am constantly shedding skin all
over the place. When I take a shower, I get a few hours’ break from it, but if
I work out, it gets red and inflamed and takes hours to calm down - but still
doesn’t seem to be getting any worse. At least, I don’t think so.

cosmetic and lotion ingredients

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

I may have posted this already some time ago but here it is again
for the benefit of any new ones and those wondering what all those
ingredients really are:

www.ewg.org and click on the Skin Deep report. There’s about 14000
listings and you can check for safety levels and ingredients and
also according to brand or product. Very cool site!

We use only certified organic skin care with no alcohol, no
parabens, nor artificial preservatives, colors, etc. No toxins.
Unless you have an allergy they are safe for everyone in the family
including babies and children. You won’t see them listed on the ewg
site but I’m working on that! Here’s an example of the Intensive
Body Cream (actually more of a lotion) ingredients:

PSORIASIS-SOCK INFO

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Dear sufferes out there, here is my story:
Here is some information that might help some of you suffering from
psoriasis in the lower extremities. This applies especially to people
who wear heavier, athletic, or cushioned sox.
I began having psoriasis just out of college and lasted into
my 40’s. In my thirties, I visited a dermatologist. He examined me
and said: `Welcome to your new hobby. Psoriasis.’ I said: `This makes
sense, my dad had this too.’ The symptoms wavered with the seasons—
worse in Winter, better in Summer. It always got better or
disappeared on vacations to the Oceans where bare feet were the mode.
Meanwhile, I had been doing my own laundry after graduation.
Even after settling down, I did the laundry. I had tried many methods
for washing, using detergents for baby (which I recommend.). But
nothing changed. Pine tar, cortisone, you name it.
One day, I decided that I would turn all the sox inside out
