Hello New Member here with Eczema returning after a decade!
Hello all, my name is Shefy. I’m 22 years old, female, and overall
healthy. I live in northern California where the weather is cold cold
in winter and hot hot in summer.
I had a little eczema on my ring fingers when I was about 12 years
old. I don’t remember how long I had it, but hydrocortisone took care
of it. I just got it again after 10 years on my left ring finger
mainly. I also think I may have it on my upper lip, I’m not sure. I’m
thinking it might be due to me getting sick about a month ago. It was
like the flu (I’m still having a little yellow mucus though), but all
those symptoms are gone now. My lips got very dry and itchy, and
that’s still there. Oh and I also have gallstones…and I’m doing
flushes regularly…I have tried hydrocortisone, aveeno anti-itch, ice
packs, jojoba oil, olive oil, honey, milk, everything! My doctor wants
to try strong steroid cream, but I’m hesitant.
Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on things that work to get
rid of it?
Thanks and I’m glad I found you guys!

Shefy, my eczema started when I was 14 on the palms of my hands. I don’t know
what started it. Maybe stress, as life at home at that time was pretty bad due
my father’s bipolar disorder. Anyway, it stayed and worsened for years, until I
was 20. I became pregnant with my first child, and miraculously, my eczema
disappeared completely, and rapidly! I was ecstatic! But a short time after she
was born, it started back worse than ever, but on my shins. It "migrated". That
was really bad and then I became pregnant with my 2nd child, and it disappeared
again. It came back on my palms, armpits, and in my hair so bad I could hardly
wash my hair without tremendous pain and then "tightness" for days afterward. It
was a nightmare. But the point is, it comes, and it goes for some people. For
some it comes and never leaves and worsens. And on and on . . . Have you been
under unusual stress lately? Pregnant? Just wondering. Hormonal swings in women
have a definite effect for a lot of women.

I have the exact problem on my left ring finger. I
started using a mixture of Tea Tree Oil and Coconut
oil on it. I put it on 3-4 times a day and it is
healing quickly. I can’t wear my wedding ring right
now because as soon as I put it on the eczema will
come back. I have been married for 9 years and the
eczema on the finger has broke out for only about 4
months now so I know it is not the ring. I wash my
hands a lot because I have 2 children in diapers. It
seemed like maybe some soap was getting caught under
the ring and causing the eczema. Just a thought. Since
using the TTO and CO It is dry and peely but not itchy
and oozy like before. The TTO seems to heal the open
sores quickly.
Good luck,
Karena

You may have a metal/nickel allergy. I can’t wear any jewelry because I
break out in a rash so I know how you feel. I think the only jewelry I could
wear is pure platinum or pure gold. Some metals, even if they say they are
gold contain nickel. It may be metal buildup in your system. They have
"Metal Cleanses" available on the market so maybe you may like to look at
that. Also, if you wash your hands a lot make sure you use a gentle, natural
cleanser. I went into detail about cleansers in another email I just replied
to on this list. It’s hard to find good hand cleansers without a lot of
harsh ingredients so right now I use "Jason" hand cleaner. There are better
ones but my money is short right now. Make sure you use a good hand
moisturizer also after you wash your hands. Also, If you make any food with
dough wear plastic gloves because the yeast in the dough can aggravate the
rash.
Good Luck!

I have been trying different products and have been posting the results on
this list and I actually found a line I LOVE. It’s called "California Baby"
and I bought them at my local Natural Food Store. They have Shampoo,
Conditioner, Body Wash, Detangler, Calendula Cream, etc.. I purchased them
because they have no SLS, DEA, nut oils, gluten, soy, oat or dairy in their
products. I originally bought the "Super Sensitive No Fragrance"
shampoo/body wash and conditioner as well as the detangler. So here is the
scoop:
Shampoo: Very moisturizing! I was very surprised! It has a bit of a odd
smell since there is no fragrance added to it but they also have a shampoo
with fragrance. I tried to use it as a body wash but it leaves an odd smell
on your skin. (However, I am super sensitive to smells so it probably
wouldn’t bother anyone.) It has wonderful moisturizing qualities as opposed
to most natural shampoos. I just purchased the one with fragrance but
haven’t used it yet.
Conditioner: I love it! The odd smell isn’t as prominent. It is moisturizing
but since my hair is extra dry and super curly I mix Jojoba Oil with it in
the shower. It’s a good base conditioner if you want to add any kind of Oil.
I would suggest mixing the oil and conditioner in your hands right before
you put it on your hair.
Detangler: BRILLIANT! The ONLY detangler I have ever used that does NOT make
my eczema worse and doesn’t make me break out in a rash on my neck. HIGHLY
recommended! (A lady who works at the natural food store said she even uses
it on her dog…hahahha.)
Calendula Cream: A very nice light cream. It worked well on some heat/
allergic rash I used on my leg. It also is great around the eyes and for
super sensitive skin. (The only moisturizer besides this I can use around my
eyes is Jojoba Oil. Anything else irritates my eyes and/or makes the eczema
on my eyelids worse)
Good Luck!

Buy a juicer and juice all the green vegetables you can get your hands on,;
particularly at night, around 8:00 when the body heals. Eat lots lots lots of
fruit. Cut the meat, the dairy, the wine, the butter, the sugar, replace all
that with natural foods. Head out to the health food store and do not return to
the normal store except for fish. You’ll see they have everything to repleace
your old diet. Eat fish. Good luck,
Chris

Hi Christine -
So, what do you think about coffee/tea/caffiene and the like? I notice that I
am usually better off when I don’t drink too much of it and definitely better
off without alcohol, which saddens me. I like wine, beer, etc.
Reading Shefy’s situation, it makes me wonder if she hasn’t just reached some
kind of critical mass of toxins in her system and needs to detox. I knwo I need
to go thru another detox period myself, but I keep putting it off.

I was looking at the Candida diets and they say that Coffee and Black Tea
are bad. However, unsweetened Herbal Tea is OK. I know they sell "Detox" tea
but I haven’t used an yet so I can’t recommend any. I know it’s hard since I
love Sweetened Ice Tea and Coffee with cream and sugar. I’m trying to cut
back but it is going to be a slow process. Don’t feel like you have to do it
all at once because your body may freak out anyway.
I just bought some Goji Juice and Grapefruit Seed Extract Capsules because
of all the good things I’ve heard about them.
I have a feeling that "Beer Belly" is actually Candida since it grows in
your intestines and makes your stomach bloated. (Beer contains tons of
yeast).
