PABA for eczema
Has anyone had success using PABA or other B vitamins to clear up
eczema? I have two books by Adelle Davis: LET’S EAT RIGHT TO KEEP FIT
and LET’S GET WELL that mention PABA for eczema. My 8-year-old son has
had eczema since he was a baby. Over the years, we have found a few
things that have helped him (diet especially), but I thought the PABA
might be worth a try. When I couldn’t find a cream with PABA in it, I
made my own by breaking open a capsule of PABA and mixing some of it
with his moisturizer before applying it. Now it seems like the PABA is
helping him. His skin has never looked this good! Since it is an
extremely easy and cheap solution, I wanted to mention it in case it
might help others. One thing to keep in mind is that B vitamins are
water soluble, so it needs to be mixed in something that holds water
(hydrophylic), such as a moisturizing cream, but not an ointment,
which is oil-based.
Hope this helps.

Stay OUT of the SUN with PABA on. You or he will burn bad !!!
I found this out the hard way when I was a teenager.
Thanks for the information.

Thanks, that’s good to know. I only put the PABA on his skin at
bedtime, and he uses sunscreen when going outside. So far he hasn’t
burned (and we live in Texas!).

Para Amino Benzoic Acid: PABA is one of the B vitamins. It is used as
an ingredient in some sunscreens and has been called the
"anti-gray-hair vitamin" because it is supposed to restore hair color.
Adelle Davis says that "the number of eczema cases I have seen improve
after taking PABA has led me to believe that deficiencies of this
vitamin are not unusual." You can find PABA supplements at any health
food store.
