Eczema on my baby’s face

Friday, January 12th, 2007

I have been battling eczema on my baby’s face since he was 4 weeks
old. I have tried: Eucerin, Auquaphor, Aveeno, California Baby, Burt’s
Bees, Cetaphil, Hydrocortisone, Atarax, Benedryl, Dove sensitive skin.
We have gone from breastfeeding to soy formula to hypoallergenic
formula. I have been to an allergist, dermatologist, and my
pediatrician about a million times. The only time he has cleared up
completely is when he was on an antibiotic. Both times he has taken
amoxicillin he has cleared up. Obviously he can’t be on an antibiotic
all the time but I am hoping you guys can give me some suggestions on
what to do for him. I don’t like to give my 6 month old atarax
everynight before bed. I have to put socks on his hands and tie his
hands down at bed time or else he wakes up with a bloody mess.
PLEASE!!!! send me some information that you think will be helpful. I
do not have eczema so I do not know how my son feels but I know he
feels miserable because he just itches all the time. He will clear up

4 month old with severe eczema

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

I have a beautiful baby girl with severe ezcema from head to toe that had it
since she was 2
mo old. I do breastfeed and supplement with nutramigen formula when I am
working. I know
about the elimation diet and cut out everything 2 mo ago that is suspected as an
allegy. I use
nutramigen because it is supposed to be good for babies with cow’s milk protien
allergy.
Everything is done for my baby to help her. She get’s very moisterized twice a
day to keep her
skin from drying up which helps and she get’s oatmeal baths once a week. I try
not to wash
her up to much as the water dries out the skin. The doctor perscribed
hydrocortizone valtrate
cream to help with the eczema, but I heard that is not good to use so I want to

Coconut oil for hands and face working for me

Monday, January 8th, 2007

I have written here before as the guy with eczema for 50 years, except
for my time in Hawaii. I am doing 3 new things and have noticed some
improvements. I am changing sheets every few days to fight the dust
mite thing, and eating tumeric for inflammation, and using food grade
coconut oil for my skin. It’s only been a few days, but I love the
results so far! Note: coconut oil is not coco butter! I got a 16 oz
jar at my health food store for $15: Garden of Life Extra Virgin
Coconut Oil 100% Organic. Far far far cheaper than any meds!

My flakey face is getting much better, and my hands are softening, and
the itching is decreasing. I love the fact that this is pure coconut
oil with zero other ingredients, so it either works or does not, there
are no hidden contributing factors.

You can slather the oil on at night before bed, or after a shower, and

What my eczema looks like:

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

It starts as little water things then it dries out and the skin breaks and
then the cracks happen….this is the same problem all over again…I don’t mind
dry skin but the cracking is what hurts. I have forgotten having hands that
do not sting or hurt….I hope someone finds a cure soon. I will give
anything to play in water or even wash dishes like I u sed to.
As for the eczema on my body, usually just bumps but they do not crack like
my hands.

PABA for eczema

Friday, January 5th, 2007

Has anyone had success using PABA or other B vitamins to clear up
eczema? I have two books by Adelle Davis: LET’S EAT RIGHT TO KEEP FIT
and LET’S GET WELL that mention PABA for eczema. My 8-year-old son has
had eczema since he was a baby. Over the years, we have found a few
things that have helped him (diet especially), but I thought the PABA
might be worth a try. When I couldn’t find a cream with PABA in it, I
made my own by breaking open a capsule of PABA and mixing some of it
with his moisturizer before applying it. Now it seems like the PABA is
helping him. His skin has never looked this good! Since it is an
extremely easy and cheap solution, I wanted to mention it in case it
might help others. One thing to keep in mind is that B vitamins are
water soluble, so it needs to be mixed in something that holds water
(hydrophylic), such as a moisturizing cream, but not an ointment,
which is oil-based.

eczema on hands

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

I am on my wits end on my hands???? I swear I am to the point where I just
want to cut my hands off…….please if anyone out there have a similar
symptom and actually found a way to control it. I used to have it on my feet
where it never really bothered me but my hands….it started 3 years ago and it
just got so bad now…I already forgot how touching someone feels
like…having my hands on someone’s face….help!!! This is not living..this
is like
dying a slow death where I just sometimes lock myself in my room so nobody else
will see me. I have read so many self cure stuff but is it really possible
to just eat live food and no wheat, dairy or sugar…that takes care of 99%
of everything we eat!!! I just hope the medical community is doing something
about this….this is life taken away from us….I can’t even travel overeas
because of my skin condition. I thank God that I have met someone who is
understanding enough but it really keeps me from meeting people and it affects
my career to further since I cannot meet people with these hands …even I am
