Silica, helichrysum etc. etc…. also… Genteal & Systane
Hi, I don’t often get to this group, but thought I’d share my
experience:
I have experimented with many many many things for dry rough skin
(see a previous post of mine for the HUGE list of stuff I’ve tried.
I’ve also tried various Masada stuff such as Masada Spa Salt Scrub
for sensitive skin, Masada PsoriaLeve… also… an expensive Derma-E
Microdermabrasion scrub & microdermabrasion cloth. Also DMSO.)
When all is said & done, after wasting all that money, I devised some
homemade solutions which seem to be better than anything else:
(1) Preliminary priming of skin: Immerse ramie mitt into a quite
strong solution of H2O2 (tsp. food-grade hydrogen peroxide mixed into
two oz. pure water). Then use the mitt to clean affected skin.

(2) I didn’t keep track of the recipe, but apply a combo of the
following, with the largest amount listed first, followed by ever
lessening amounts:
Liquid Silica, apricot oil, glycerine, lavender oil, helichrysum (3
drops - no more), eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil. I suspect I can do
without the peppermint. Also, maybe patchouli may be better than
lavender? Still experimenting…

(2) Combo of: silica, apricot oil, glycerine, jojoba oil, licorice
extract. Then I rub on Liberty Naturals shea butter.
Note that in the past, helichrysum was useless to me, but now I find
that in combo with Silica, it seems to be good. And the
helichrysum/silica combo is not irritating, unlike the DMSO/Silica
combo which irritates. I found the above combo’s to be quite good,
better than abrasive salts or Masada/Derma microdermabrasion stuff.
BTW, I had also tried Liberty Natural’s Aloe Butter (in coconut
base), but it’s sorta irritating to me - maybe due to its coconut
base. Not sure…
Also, believe it or not: Systane and Genteal (for dry eyes) when
applied to other areas of skin are quite relieving!
Also: Calendula gel and Silvadene are pleasant as well.
