Eczema and Diet

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

I read with interest about certain foods and alcohol causing flare ups.
Is all alcohol bad or is some worse then others. I know it’s hard to
pinpoint which foods can be a problem. If you suspect a food or an
alcoholic drink may be the problem, does anyone know how long it takes
to get it out of your system after you stop eating or drinking it?

If so-called acne medications work, why are several people
in America alone still suffering from acne? Perhaps they are
not as effective as we are made to believe; perhaps they are
even more harmful than good for us.

There are over 50 million people in America alone who suffer
from acne and sadly this permits for exploitation from the

Bateman’s Purpura

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Hi to all,
I am new to the group. Thanks for allowing me to join. I have been
diagnosed recently w/Bateman’s Purpura. I have been suffering w/it for
about 4 years now but it seems to be getting worse, so I finally went
to a dermatologist. When asked if there was treatment, she said no. Not
really. So, I have to live w/these ugly red splotches on my arms each
time I barely bump my arms. Does anyone know of anything that helps
w/the ugly red bruises? I am only 48, but they make me look 68!!!
UGH!!!
Thanks,
Mary

My experience

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

Hi, I’ve had eczma all my life. I’m 46. It’s got particularly bad in
the last eight years, although I’ve always had regular flare-ups.
These days it strikes all over. I’ve had periods of intense
inflammation on my face, hands, neck and scalp.

It’s affected my home life, my work life, my self esteem.

I’ve tried everything. Cortesone tablets are great - they work
quickly and provide effective and immediate relief. But they are
incredibly dangerous long-term, and also lose their effectiveness.

I’ve also used cortesone cream - not as dangerous, and useful for
bad flare-ups.

I’ve tried a variety of natural treatments, some work for a while,

dermatologists

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

I’m looking for a really good dermatologist… one that listens to the patient,
and is open to fresh ideas.

All of the derms I’ve been to have been smug and arrogant, and didn’t listen to
me, the patient. I was brushed off, rudely I might add, like an ignorant lay
person.

All my other doctors (my ob-gyn, my internist, my shrink) listen respectfully to
what I have to say about my skin problems, and even give me the benefit of the
doubt.

The skin is the largest, most complex, and least understood organ of the body.
So dermatologists have the least right of any doctor to be arrogant and
closed-minded.

Have been seeing some results, certainly not cured, but better.

The psoriasis on my feet seems to be improving. I am taking some
amazon rainforest herbs that our local health food store recommended.
They are antifungus and help with building the auto immune system.
Will keep you posted, if they continue to help. I have my fingers
crossed!! :) Diane

My 5 yr old

Friday, April 6th, 2007

My 5yr old son has been suffering from moderate eczema in whole life.
I would like him to talk/meet with other kids and adults that have it
also. He got it from his biological mother and no one else in our
family has it. Thank you

Hello, everyone

Friday, April 6th, 2007

Hello!

I have had eczema my WHOLE life (all 25 years of it). It’s on my
hands, back of my elbows, knees, and sadly enough my face.

When it flares up, like it is now, I don’t like going outside b/c I
feel embarrassed. I’m distracted at work b/c my hands are weepy,
cracked, red, and itchy.

I’m sick of taking cortisone creams. I’m sick of eating sugary, carbed
foods to make myself feel better when it flares up.

Thank you reading!

Psoriasis on the feet

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Hello Everyone,

I am new here, thank-you for letting me join! I have pustular
psoriasis on the bottom of my feet. I feel like I am the only person
in the whole world to have this, I am sure I am not. It took 4 doctors
to figure out what I have. Is anyone having any success with anything
other than steriods? I sure would appreciate any help. Di
