Elidel/Protopic
Has anyone here ever used Elidel or Protopic?
I used it on and off about 2 years ago and then stopped when I learned
about this advisory.
I’m in the middle of a flare up and am using strong cortisones
(diprolene, elocon) to clear it up. I hope to be off of them by this
Sunday; however, I wish there something out there I could take to keep
the eczema at bay.

I would never touch any type of ointment. I dropped everything cold
turkey!!! My eczema got so bad that I could’t bend my fingers nor my hands. I
have
severe eczema on both hands. I cleaned up my diet but since I have been taking
In-Liven probiotic I don’t watch my diet like I used to. My hands are about
75% clear. Be patient with every natural treatment you use. It took my hands
six months to clear up. I am just being patient. Hopefully, it will clear
up in a couple of months. I would be happy even if my hands stays the same way
now than before.

I have used both Elidel and Protopic and because my eczema was so severe it did
not work for me. I guess if your eczema is a small patch then it might be
useful. I know that the medication was getting bad press in the news but I
think if you use it sparingly you will be OK. I was just recently on both meds
with no problems except they did not work.

Everyone talks about In Liven Probiotics…are they tablets or in powder form?
Is it good?
So this is all you took & ur hands are now 75% better??
I was told my immune system/gut was not well enough to take tablets as it would
just be a waste at this stage until it repairs more???

hello,
Probiotics help, but you need to now what you are allergic to, once you find
out avoid them, and star with a diet, fresh fruits and veggies, check all the
lotion shampoo, cleaners, everything you use in your house, maybe something is
causing your eczema…my daughter is allergic to dairy the allergist recommend
cullturell www.culturell.com it work for us, we also added primrose oil, and
flax oil,,,for her age some multivitamins….she improve a lot…but she still
have allergies and her skin dry…

I took everything in the book like evening primrose oil, flaxseed oil, etc.
There was a little improvement but at least there was still an improvement. I
did some cleansing which made it so bad I guess coz it was getting rid of all
the toxins in my body. I bought In-Liven in June. My hands cleared up in
two weeks but it returned again but slowly it would return less and less. It
has been six months and my hands are getting better but very very slowly. You
have to be very patient with this. This might work for me but it might not
work for you. This is a chance you have to take. This isn’t a quick cure. I
have been very impatient at first but I would rather have it heal slowly than
put some kind of ointment that would cover it up and hurt you in the long run.
My hands became ten times worse everytime I put steroid cream on it. Plus
when you put creams on it, your skin becomes very thin (in my case)…my skin
has
become tougher and not prone to cracking which was so painful. Please stop
using these creams. They are doing you no good. Oh to answer your question,
it is in powder form…not the tastiest thing but it is better than gulping
that nasty flaxseed oil. I take one teaspoon a day which I mix with water. One
container will last you a month. it costs about 50 bucks but they give you a
10% discount then after a number of orders you get 20%. I pay 20% less now.
I just bought my 7th and 8th bottle. I really hope this helps. I hate to see
people suffering from this.

hello
yes I used on my baby elidel, it was terrible just a little her legs were all
red….couple month later we star using protopic, we use a lot, it work a little
but then we find out that it was a new drug and our allergist toll us she did
not want us to use it….becuse is a new drug and they don’t know much about it,
and in large amount they did experiments in rat with the liquid form and find
out it cause cancer, and what I understand it does is weekend your defense so
your body won figth to the allergies, but you may get cold …….I don’t think
is what you are looking for a cure…..
We star a diet, *(we avoid dairy, soy, eggs, nuts, chicken) my daughter can
eat veggies, fruit, we cook everything at home, and we add probiotic
(www.culturell.com), primrose oil, flax oil, multivitamins……………If she
is very itchy we use atarax, and bad red spot we use elocon…(but she is so
much better we used less than once a month) I hope it help a little

May I ask what is wrong with Elidel? It does not contain steroids that I am
aware of.
Thanks for any info.

Elidel is an immunosuppressive drug and essentially does the same thing as a
steroid. After suppressing the system for so long, it will no longer be able to
make it’s own natural steroids and the immune system will be shot.
